  • Relevant Testosterone Blood Test for Tracking

I'm going to start working with NIR Lights as part of my PE routine (also to help heal my Rosacea). I'd kind of like to do an n of 1 study on myself to see if the Red/Infrared light on my junk has any effect on my Testosterone levels. I don't have any sexual performance problems to address, just curious if red-lighting my balls is worth the time.

I can order a lab test from something like DirectLabs for the comparison, but I'm wanting to be sure I get what I need to have a reasonable picture of what my baseline is and then if anything really changes over something like 6 months. I want to get enough data, but I don't want to overspend.

Looks like I can get Testosterone, Total, Males (Adult), Immunoassay for $37. I can get Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable and Total, SHBG, and Albumin for $109. The money isn't really an issue, but I'd prefer not to pay for something I don't really need.

Any thoughts on which test would be sufficient for my little study?

So you will be comparing your own levels, did your Testosterone increase or not. One simple and free technique I stumbled upon is to measure the lowest pitch you can produce (sing). The higher your testosterone, the lower pitch you can hit.

Keep in mind that testosterone changes during the day: it is highest at 8am, and lowest at 3pm. So measure your pitch (in Hz) every day at 8am and 3pm, and experiment if the red light will influence it. I have noticed that sometimes there is a temporary rise in T during the day, typically if you have sex with your gf/wife/partner, and hour after it, testosterone goes up. But that effect dissipates in few hours.

Also keep in mind that whatever you do (a supplement or red light) it most likely will influence the next morning testosterone level. It may or may not have an immediate effect.

I use this free web site to measure my lowest pitch (it is free). There are others you can find:

I saw this idea on your other thread. Interesting for sure. I'll give a shot. Still probably want some blood work, though.
