  • Kegels and Body Position

Before I start, I want to give credit for this to the following members (Thats where I got this inspiration from):

bulldog28 for The pelvic floor muscles...working them at various angles

EQr for Hope and motivation. A cure for ED.

I've seen pegasus talk about the four different types of kegels many times. The front and back regular kegels, and the front and back reverse kegels. I've been doing the regular kegels standing up, laying down, and sitting upright ever since I read bulldog28s thread. This is what I experienced: while doing kegels standing up, the focus is on the backside of the pelvic floor muscles. Laying down puts the focus more on the front side and sitting upright makes the contraction more generalized than the other two positions. I'm not very good at doing reverse kegels, so I'm not exactly sure how the change of angle effects those. But if I had to guess, I would say it has a similar effect.

If you think about it, it makes sense to work your pelvic floor muscles from different angles. For those of you who lift, Bench pressing on the flat bench works a different part of the chest compared to the inclined and the declined benches. So this is a similar idea.

Give it a shot. It may help with greater balance in the pelvic floor region. It might help those who struggle to isolate the front and back kegels.

Hey thanks for the credit wanthis . Happy to hear the inspiration I got from those articles was contagious.

I think the different body positions do work different muscles. I started doing them sitting, lying, standing, and walking because in this study Randomised controlled trial of pelvic floor muscle exercises and manometric biofeedback for erectile dysfunction that's how they did them and 75% saw improved EQ. Pretty good odds methinks, thats why I'm so motivated. Doing these kegels isn't some longshot to help my ED, it is MOST LIKELY GOING TO WORK.

I have this chair that makes you sit in a slouch with your feet up (similar to sitting slouched against a wall with your feet placed flat on the ground). I find that when I do kegels in it I feel the contractions much closer to my scrotum than the other positions. I think its working the BC muscle which directly surrounds the inner penis.

My personal theory about kegels is that the increased PF muscle mass and tone puts relatively more pressure on the veins than the arteries (veins are generally located more towards the outside of the penis than arteries) and so the blood inflow/outflow ratio is increased, hence stronger erections. (I am also hypothesizing a larger flaccid hang). Seeing how the BC muscle directly surrounds the inner penis, I think it may be of special importance, so I've added this slouched/feet up position to my routine.
    Day 1: 2/16/11
    BPEL: 6.5"
    EG: 4.25" g, 4.5" m, 5.0" b
EQ: 5.5 Shaft fairly hard but head deflated. Lost in <10 sec w/o touch.

This makes sense. I'm going to try doing the kegels in that slouched position too and see if I see any improvement. Hope this leads some more spontaneous erections lol

I haven't got anything like your insight on this guys, or an ED problem (i'm a PE case) but it's all connected so I applaud the work you're doing.

Just wanted to say I've recognised that some sitting positions are easier to do kegels in that others. I can normally only do a reverse PC kegel (the one you feel below your balls) with my back bent (i.e. in a chair) though I can do front reverses pretty much in any position.

Keep up the good work and good luck, I'm interested in what you find out.

Good stuff on kegels there! A few months ago, I was doing some kegels in the waiting room of my doctor's office. I had my leg crossed (ankle on knee) and the kegels were intense. I tried various other ways while sitting there but none quite felt as good as when my leg was crossed. I was actually tired when he finally called me back to his office - lol. Been doing them that way ever since.

Thanks man. I don't have ED or PE, but I do have a few anxiety issues here and there. My EQ is usually 9-10, but ever since I started doing kegels, I've been able to shoot. So its a good self confidence booster and it doesn't hurt to have a 10+ EQ lol. But I feel like my pelvic floor has definitely gotten a better workout since I started doing them in different positions. Still not very good with the reverse kegels though.

That seem's interesting. I'll give that a shot and start experimenting with similar positions as well. Thanks for the idea!
