  • Pumping theory

    Hi!

Since I do my warm-down in the shower I have been considering buying a bathmate to use for 10-15mins a day during my shower. It would be convenient and is an accepted warm-down technique, also my overall goal is also girth...seems like a simple choice

But the bathmate is quite expensive, 125 dollars plus whatever international shipping costs, so I am unsure if it is worth the price. I also like to research exercises before trying them but I have been unable to find any threads on the theory behind pumping and how/why it works.

I have read the sticky threads on pumping in the devices thread but they all seem to describe how to correctly use a pump, or how to choose a good pump, but I am specifically looking for the theory behind it

With jelqing or stretching or extenders there are lots of posts/threads/articles on stretchings ligaments, creep, plastic deformation etc. that explain how the exercises work but I haven't found anything similar for pumping

    So could anyone enlighten me?

    Thanks

Wow, dont give up yet. I havent been on much lately.
Pumping works by drawing blood and lymph fluids into the penile chambers and provides a volume that is greater than that normally achieved by normal ercetions. The blood volume causes the cells and chambers to expand due to the increased volume. In a sense it is like the jelque, by drawing this excess volume into the penis it forces it to expand to accomodate the excess blood. Over time this forced increase will continually expand your penis. Repeatedly this will lead to your penis being able to hold more blood and thus cause your penis to become larger.
The biggest differenc between jelquing and pumping is that one forces blood by pushing ( jelquing ) and the other draws blood with vacuum pressure ( pumping ) by creating negative pressure. They both result in increased blood volume in the penis. I prefer pumping to jelquing because instead of the repetative motion of jelquing you can get even better blood draw and retention by pumping. The pump pressure continually draws the blood as the cylinder remains in place and the seal is not broken. This also makes pumping a bit more of a risk so one must ease into it but as long as you start slow and maintain safe pressures and time in the cylinder you willbe fine.
If you have any questions on pumping you can PM me any time, I will reply as soon as I am back on the forums. I do not have any experienc with the bathmate but I have pumped with a conventional for a while. I hope this explanation makes some sense.

Thank you very much for replying, it is much clearer

Ok, so it works like jelqing by drawing in blood and lymph fluid in order to expand the penile chambers, but why are gains considered to be very temporary? Also, since there is no direct pressure applied I would imagine that, unlike jelqing, there is no vascular development?

In regards to lymph fluid this is interesting: Lymph - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I only plan on using the bathmate for the amount of time it takes me to shower, if I purchase one it won't really be a part of my routine, it will only compliment it. This should hopefully minimise the inherent risks

One thing I have always wondered though, pumping is done when erect right? what happens if you become flaccid while in the pump?

While using a bath mate you are advised to go in semi erect in the manual. However, you can go in fully erect. Because of the pressure you won't lose your erection

I have ED, so I normally go in flaccid and pump up to 5 hg vacuum in order to draw in blood into the chambers and lymph flued into the surrounding tissue. When I release the vacuum and emerge from the cylinder, I need to slip on a tight constriction band in order to retain the blood and lymph fluid within my dick so I can retain an erection for sexual activity. However, since the vacuum draws in more blood than a normal erection, the increased volume of fluids expands the cells and as a result it causes some of them to heal in an enlarged state or even split and duplicate themselves (mitosis) when they return to normal pressure.

The initial expansion due to additial fluid build up normally dissipates over several hours. However, the healing and mitosis process can result in perminant gains over time. After two years of daily pumping, my perminent girth is up by 1/2 inch and after a 20 minute pumping session,my temporary girth increase is up by an additional 1/4 inch which lasts for several hours.

                Thanks for the responses

I'm going to postpone my decision until october when college starts up again as I have exams coming up and then i'll be working abroad for the summer so now isn't the best time for a bathmate

By october my penis will be fully conditioned so there will be no risks, so I think I will probably get one

One final question though, any difference in performance or safety between water and air pumps?

I haven't used air pumps but from what I've read the water pump (bathmate) is supposedly safer. This being that it only goes up to 4g. However, I'm sure a good air pump is safe as long as you use it correctly
