  • How does PE work?

question is in title since I am now starting to see results how exactly does PE work?

I know better blood flow and such through losing weight and what not, and also with stretching...

But what exactly am I doing to myself to see such gains is it just blood vessels and ligaments that I am stretching "or are there??? muscles inside the penis???" which are constantly being worked through PE that stretch rip tear and rebuild through protein synthesis just like a normal workout session for other parts of your body such as lats traps biceps triceps and deltoids such that get worked out in a similar fashion???

There's tunica and smooth muscle and all other small stuff but tunica and smooth muscle are the most important. When you get hard it's just smooth muscle getting relaxed and pumped full of blood. If you have a bigger tunica than smooth muscle, smooth muscle gets only partially pumped up with blood and thus results in lower EQ. Can't find the link right now for the theory but maybe someone will post it .

so it's just like regular working out, but just for your penis

like working out different muscle groups, but you are working the muscle of the penis am I correct?

Yes and length exercises are primarily for stretching that tunica.

wow that was an extremely long thread, but it did help me understand more!!!

so the penis does have muscles is it the corpus chambers or the smooth muscle and tunica?

like the corpus chambers are the muscle and the smooth muscles and tunica are like tendons ligaments and sinews, or is it vice versa?

I hope I don't have to work as hard on my penis as I do my calves to make them grow! It's too bad protein and creatine don't effect PE. Then again it could and just don't have the science to back it up. I'm just dreaming.

Fordzilla, this is my best understanding (and I hope someone corrects me if I am wrong).

The smooth muscle is the collection of tissues that make up the corpus chambers (CC and CS), inside of the tunica, or tunicas.

Like the thread described, think of the tunica as the tire, and the smooth muscle as the inner tube. Except the inner tube is filled with a sponge, instead of air.

So while you can increase them somewhat similar to skeletal muscles (bodybuilding), you use different methods to achieve growth and expansion.

This image may help with the visualization.

A complete understanding of PE means that you can't say it is just this or just that. The penis has skin, tendon/ligament tissue, smooth muscles, nervous and circulatory systems.

PE'ing for healthly function (overcoming ED) primarily focuses on improving blood flow into the penis and relaxing the smooth muscles. Kegels and RKs, good diet and blood flow, edging/balooning, light jelqing all lead to improvements in this area. PE'ing for health is the foundation for all PE because having a good erection is the basis for all erect gains.

PE'ing for gains is broken down into two parts: stretching the ligament/tunica tissue and increasing the size and number of smooth muscle cells. Critical aspects of these goals, however, are growing and increasing the capacity for circulation system, growing nerves, and growing skin. All of these things (ligament/tunica tissue, smooth muscle, circulatory, nervous, and skin) can be injured during PE by a single event or by repetitive strain. So, PE is the critical balance between straining enough to gain and over-strain to cause injury.

The two components of PE'ing for gains is adeptly discussed in the TGC theory; the analogy of the bike tube and the air (that working4it mentioned) is a good comparison. At the basic level, imagine your tunica as a double-barreled tube, the tunica is the structural tube that is filled with smooth muscle. The smooth muscle relaxes and fills with blood to get an erection (PE'ing for health). Each muscle cell fills to its capacity to make the penis rigid.

However, the penis might not be rigid if the smooth muscle cells do not completely fill the chamber of the tubes; i.e. there are not enough cells and/or the cells are not large enough. Smooth muscle work (jelqing, clamping, pumping) help stretch the smooth muscle cells enough to cause mitosis, the duplication of the cells by splitting each cell in two. This increases the capacity of each cell until it splits, which then increase the number of cells. I believe a larger flaccid is a sign of an increased number of cells.

If the erect penis is very rigid, then the PE'er should focus more effort on stretching the tunica. Tunica tissues are aligned longitudinally and radially. Stretching the tunica requires the PE'er to stretch for length and girth. For some lucky PE'ers, the force of the erection or jelqing is sufficient to stretch the tunica for gains. Others men require more effort to stretch the tunica. Stretching for length includes manual stretches, hanging, and extending. Stretching for girth includes manual exercises like bundled stretches, ulis, squeezes, compressors, supra slammers, frendos.

***You'll note that I don't consider clamping or pumping exercises to stretch the tunica. This is because the effort to stretch the tunica (except for those lucky folks who have a more pliable tunica) often exceeds the capacity of the circulatory and other support tissue during these activities. Excessive clamping can burst capillaries and excessive pumping will trigger counter-productive edema.

I have found that manual girth work, as described in my girth routine (if properly warmed up), is intense enough to stretch the tunica and not long enough to injure the support elements of the penis. But these exercises alone are insufficient to grow more smooth muscle***

Stretching the tunica causes it to get bigger. But the tunica is living flesh, so I don't know if it the fibers just stretch longer or if it also experiences mitosis.

Keep in mind there is a third part of the penis; the CS. This is not encased in a tendon-like tissue, so smooth muscle gains of the CS are not constrained by the tunica, as rbi99 has often posted. UJ will help the CS and the glans gain size.

The final aspect of PE is that of erect appearance; growing skin to accommodate your new size. If you are making your erect penis larger you should expect to grow more skin (to maintain your appearance) or to pull skin from your pubic area and enhance the turkey neck appearance.

I definitely think that post should be stickied in the PE theory and science forum ^^
So many newbies ask about the science behind PE or how it works and that post describes everything so well!
I am going to read over it a few times myself as it is so detailed but yet so important. Well done namsokiek, thanks for taking the time to write it up

Also, the picture diagrams are by far the best I have seen, shows all the different aspects and different views of the penis.
