  • Are there any extenders that don't have this problem?

I just recently got my first extender (ProExtender from Ebay). I've been using it for 2 days and it's already broken.

The problem is that when you insert the first side you are pushing down on the base at an angle and the lateral force is too much for this thin piece of plastic and the round metal piece pops out. Like this...

Looking at pictures of even the more expensive units (X4, PeniMaster, etc.), they all seem to have very thin material at this point. Is this an issue with all extenders or do they use stronger material that prevents this? I don't want to spend $100's only to run into this problem again.

Edit: The images aren't showing up for me when I view the post, so here are the links.

LOL, that is the exact extender I bought, and the exact same thing that happened to me. Tried to use gorilla glue, but it became a mess, and just threw it in a drawer, planning on fixing it again sometime when I had the patience.

I think what we did is when we pushed down on the springs to load the sides in, we had the metal bars in the middle of the plastic where it is thinnest. We should have either had the metal bars pointing straight up or straight down and than I don't think this would have happened.

The Phallosan doesn't have this problem, and that will most likely be my next purchase, but its like 400 bucks with shipping... not cheap. I ended up trying to use a sock hanger, and it worked out great. I like hanging, you should try it.

Bummer. I just went through the extender shopping process a few weeks ago. I got the X4 premium package and have been very pleased, so far. When I changed out the standard base for the wide girth base, I was worried about it breaking in the same place yours did because I had to remove then reinstall the disc that fits in that hole. But it didn't break. My X4 is still on sale for $128 and I think other good brands have similar prices.

What I read is that some cheap ones and knock-offs of the top brands are made with cheaper plastics. Some of the higher quality ones use medical grade plastics that usually are reinforced with nylon.

Yeah, good point. That's exactly what I did!

I used to hang a few years back. Life happened and I couldn't keep it up so I got rid of my Bib hanger. Do you have a link to instructions for sock hanging? Or would you mind telling me how you did it?

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

I have been using my X4 almost daily for six years without encountering this problem.

The knock off extenders from ebay use pvc plastics for the base and support piece, unlike the quality extenders that use medical grade nylon.
