Bathmate or VacuTech, or other?

The VacuTech thickwall has thick enough walls that it doesn't really bite into your abdomen at the base when you pump up, if that is what you are worried about. I doubt it makes much difference either way though. I have never tried a flared cylinder.Where there is PE there is love and understanding.

I use both. Not that big a difference. The flared has a slight indent at the base to help against pulling scrotum into the tube. When I'm doing cock work only (no ball pumping), I use the flared first (to get a nice plump), then go up to the thickwall later in the session.Old Gym Log - Tracking progress with the iLogPE App

I am not an experienced pumper, but I bought a conventional type (dry) vacuum pump and cylinder recently and have been playing with it. I have not used the Bathmate, but I have read a number of threads posted by guys who have. A reasonable one can be found here: http://www.*************.org/forum/s...6&page=1&pp=15
Unfortunately, since that thread contains some penis pictures, it is located in the "members only" section of that forum. There are also extensive threads over at the Matters of Size forum, but since that forum is a Bathmate "partner" they have a financial incentive to push it over there.
I have heard of guys using a conventional cylinder like those made by Vacutech for water pumping and applying suction to the tubing by mouth. I think I also heard of a guy water pumping with a gauged pump who would keep disconnecting the tubing from the cylinder while pumping, and allowing the water to drain from it before reattaching it, so as to keep water out of the pump itself.
I have also heard of guys using the Bathmate for air pumping (as was discussed in the thread I linked) but it didn't sound as if it worked too well. I think if you want to water pump the Bathmate makes more sense, and if you want to air vacuum pump a conventional cylinder and pump make more sense.
The advantages of the Bathmate seem to me to be:
1. Well-suited for water pumping, if that is what you want to do.
2. Simplicity. No need for an external pump and tubing.
It seems to have some significant disadvantages to me, however. These are:
1. Not well-suited for air pumping, according to what I have read.
2. Use for water pumping largely restricts use to bath time. If you use it in the shower and let the water run, you are going to be using a lot of hot water if you pump for 20 or 30 minutes.
3. A very limited selection of cylinder sizes. It only comes in two sizes and from what I have read, if you have a maximal girth of 6" or more, the regular Hercules is probably not going to be wide enough for you. The larger Goliath sounds ginormous.
4. Lack of a pressure gauge to monitor and adjust vacuum pressure. The Bathmate is pressure-regulated by a valve, but basically you pump it up until water stops coming out of it and that is it. Furthermore, I have yet to hear exactly how much vacuum pressure that is. Perhaps someone here knows.

One thing you could do that would be very helpful is to give precise internal diameters of the cylinders for the Hercules and Goliath devices. The closest thing to that I have seen is an indication on the Bathmate site that the Hercules is suitable for men with penis diameters up to 1.88". Does that mean the ID of the Hercules cylinder is 1.88" or a little bigger? As I recall, the outer maximal dimensions of the device are listed, but this is irrelevant to cylinder sizing. I have read threads from men with base girth diameters of around 6" who find the Hercules too small for them. This corresponds to a diameter of around 1.9", but these guys may also have oval penis cross-sections.
As I said I am not an experienced pumper, but I have done some, and read about it quite a bit. The bruising and swelling you described with vacuum pumping can certainly occur but it is by no means an unavoidable consequence of pumping without water. Certainly, high vacuum can be introduced quickly, but there is no reason it has to be, or should be, and it should not happen accidentally if one uses a gauged pump.
I would advise anyone who is undertaking vacuum pumping to use a pump with an attached gauge. If you do, the vacuum pressure can be taken up slowly, and there is no need to go to vacuums higher than 3" Hg initially. At this vacuum pressure few men report bruising or swelling. It is certainly possible to unwittingly go to much higher levels of vacuum by using a pump with no gauge, or even when establishing vacuum by mouth suction.

It may not need one if you always want to be at the maximum but I feel like it is going to explode if going to the max and hence want to stay below that. It there is no gauge, it is impossible to know if you are consistently at the same pressure each time unless you are at the very maximum.Originally posted by bathmateukFirst of all, bathmate does not need a gauge as it is designed to work to a maximum SAFE negative pressure (.55 bar in water).

Well, I went with Vacutech air pump that should be here today. I wasn't worried about the water bill, but the convenience of pumping outside the tub or shower. I will report back any findings I have, but if I like it, maybe a bathmate, if I can find one cheap enough, will be a future purchase.

Thanks for the reply, even though it stills looks as if one has to lose consistency due to the lack of gauge unless you are at the maximum. It should at least be seriously considered for future revisions.Originally posted by bathmateukDear Sir,

Is there any reason why it is recommended to use the Bathmate every day while with all other PE exercises it is recommended that you take some days off?
Also, what's the disadvantages of "full package" pumping (including the balls)? The advantage would seem that you get more of the inner penis into the tube. Is the Goliath designed for full package? Also, is there any disadvantage in using the Goliath even if you have average size?Last edited by first; 12-31-2010, 06:13 AM.

I agree, thats some info we were lacking in the pastthanks for the information about the cylinder IDs and the vacuum pressure setting of the relief valve.

I've been using my BM Hercules for about 3 weeks now. I use it in the shower and then leave it on as I dry off, following the same basic pattern everyday, sometimes twice a day for about 20 minutes each time. Unfortunately I did not measure with a tape before starting but have noticed gains already. I feel heavier and am adding girth as evidenced by my wife's comments. My starting length inside the BM and fully pumped was at the 150 mark on the BM, I am nearing the 160 mark at times but these could just be beginner gains and I will probably peak and level off in the next coupe of weeks. I keep an eye on my morning erections as a gauge to see if I'm overdoing it and this seems to be working well. If my morning erection is soft or not there I take the day off and have a hard erection the next morning. Anyway, I'm impressed with the quality of the product and am happy with the purchase. I'd recommend it.

I went to a conversion table and found that .55 bar is equivalent to about 16 inches of Hg. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.Originally posted by bathmateuk
First of all, bathmate does not need a gauge as it is designed to work to a maximum SAFE negative pressure (.55 bar in water).
I do not consider 16 hg of negative pressure (assuming my conversion is correct) a safe vacuum to which I want to subject my penis. I have been air pumping and water pumping for more than a year and have learned the hard way to not exceed 5 Hg. Most recently, I have limited myself to 4 Hg and after a 20 minute routine, I have a nicely enlarged (1/2 inch additional girth) firm shaft without a doughnut which is well suited for penetration. It has taken me a year of experimentation and testing my limitations to reach this point, which would have been impossible to do without a quality gauge.
Note, however, I have ED so I am not pumping primarily for permanent growth, but rather for EQ and and improved sexual pleasure.
Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.Last edited by not2big; 01-03-2011, 08:29 PM.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

I don't have another pump to compare to it yet, but I haven't felt any over pumped pressure from the bathmate. And I give her all she's got at this point
I think warming up prior too has helped me out. I hope to have a Vacutech soon I hope.....

I can't imagine overdoing it with the Bathmate--the VacuTech pump, yes. I use the larger of the two Bathmates for my whole package and it works great. You DO need to be careful not to go over the recommended maximum mark on the gauge of the VacuTech. If you do, (and I have, idiot than I am at times, done that), you will create a huge donut. Mine was at least 8" around--yukkk--took a couple of days to go away. I AM getting larger flaccid girth (6.5" at the base) measurements with the VacuTech, now, and I rarely use it more than once a week.

Personally, I love the bathmate.
However I do run into some problems:
The skin of your scrotum can get sucked. Mine did :\ not a lot, but enough to mess with my girth so it's a bit weird cuz I have a slight indent now, only while bathmating/jeqling though. Not when erect thankfullly. Another problem Is that no matter what, I always happen to have fluid buildup or donuting happen to me. I can't for the likes of me figure out how to avoid it and I've been going at it for sometime now. Permanent gains? Not that I see, but I haven't been all too consistent. Also, everything gets pumped up nice and swell...until the base. Where the flexible rubber tubing is, is where I'm not gaining in girth so it looks kinda awkward having a fat dick, and regular base.
That being said, bathmate is awesome. I cannot describe to you the feeling of filling up the tube girth wise and taking it out. It's amazing! Seeing your penis that fat and long is just a sight to behold. I have yet to hit length wise but I've gotten near. Also, talk about ROCK hard erections haha! I've just ordered the goliath hehe. I can't wait!
