how to stop the turtling

Just to keep from turtling and probably help you out with flaccid gains as well, but I'm not sure about the flaccid gains.

I recently came across a product that really helps to prevent turtling. It's called Stealth Innerwear. Here's the link http://www.stealthformen.com I bought a couple of them and they're pretty comfortable and do the job they were meant to do. I definitely recommend them. Price is reasonable too.
