  • Pumping and Packing

I've read several theories on this and while the overwhelming majority believe that one should not go up in cylinder size until you completely pack the current cylinder, there are several schools of thought on jsut how long you should stay in the cylinder before you graduate.

What are some your thoughts, fellas? I am of the opinion that you should stay in the current cylinder until you can pack in less than 5 minutes of pumping. Thoughts?

This is coming from more of an engineering background and not a PE background, but I feel it'd best to switch cylinder sizes long before you start packing the cylinder. Once you start running out of room in the cylinder and you touch the walls, you're now getting uneven vacuum pressure along the shaft. Even, consistent vacuum pressure is damned important, in my opinion, and you'd want to do anything to keep that rather than prevent it.

In my opinion if you are primarily interested in gaining girth, you should "graduate" to a larger cylinder when you start packing between 1/2 and 3/4 of the cylinder. When you move up, you might want to start using the smaller cylinder for your first ten minute set and then switch in the larger cylinder for subsequent sets.

I have heard guys primarily interested in length gains, recommend not increasing the cylinder size until several months after you start packing they entire cylinder.

        Good theories.

        Any others?

With a girth of 4.75" you should be able to pack about 1/2 way up a 1.5" cylinder. I started with just under 4.5 inch girth and it took me six months before I could pack the first half of the cylinder. I can now pack 1/2 plus of a 1.75" cylinder.

This would be my main concern regarding packing. It makes sense that if your penis cannot expand to the sides due to the limitations of a small chamber then it must expand in the long way, like a ballon.

Can anyone testify to having improved their EL through packing without disfiguring their penis? I don't own a pump and have never been in one so I don't know if it would feel "right", which is my PE philosophy: Do what feels right. I am really toying with the Idea of investing in a quality pump and a couple of cylinders but am not sure atm.

I haven't come across many guys that didnot enjoy pumping once they got into it. Very pleasurable and very addicting.

As far as improving EL thru pumping, it can be done but you have to graduate cylinders before long. Once you are packed, the pressure is focused squarely on the glans, which can lead to blisters. Once I can pack a cylinder within 5-10 minutes of pumping, it's time for me to go up in size. I'm currently in a 2.5 cylinder and close to packing it within my time limit. At my current pace, I will probably graduate to a 2.75 by the fall.

Can you bros clarify for me what "packing" the cylinder would mean? Girth-wise I touch the walls of my cylinder now, but I still have about 2" worth (length-wise) left at the top of the cylinder when I pump. Does this mean I'm not fully packing the cylinder and could wait to upgrade to a larger size?

I'm sorry for the redundancy brothers...I just really have been getting into pumping and want to make sure I'm using the time to my advantage.

packing the cylinder refers to girth, so by your description you are currently packing your cylinder.

While on the subject in this thread, I don't believe there is anything wrong with packing the cylinder and staying with the same cylinder for a while. Packing the cylinder may just allow for excellent expansion while at the same time keeping edema down. Bottom line is, if you are expanding beyond your normal girth, you are working in the right direction. Besides, even if you are packing the tube, it doesn't mean that a larger cylinder will expand the CC chambers any more than they are in the packed cylinder - the extra expansion would likely be from fluid and not true internal expansion

Very true, never thought of it that way actually. I've also learned that "low and slow" is a better formula for pumping in order to avoid the unwanted edema/swelling. What do you bros usually pump at? I can't go above 5hg for any length of time without the unwanted edema/urethra swelling effects.

When I do my pumping routine, I stay between 3-4" hg, but do long sets (it wasn't uncommon to do 4-6 30-minute sets when I was pumping). I would get massive true expansion like this with very little edema. I can't go above 5"hg either, I'll get red dots all over the place

I assume we are talking about packing the cylinder with a minimum of bloating or edema buildup on the periphery. Edema can be minimized by prewrapping with athletic wrap, double condoms, and even silicon tubes that are very flexible. I have always felt when I filled the tube noticeably quickly within 5-15 minutes or so, my intuition said it was time to move up by no more that 1/8 to 1/4 " each time. This can not be overstated, edema is the enemy of enlargement by pumping as it pushes from the outside in against the expanding cavernosa(s). Variable pumping with a primary baseline at around -4 in Hg and brief spiking to higher vacuums can induce a stretch while keeping the edema to a minimum.

I'm getting the sense that the overal consensus is for pumping is low pressure long time right?

Cool. I know pumping is mostly for girth but if I wanted to focus as much as possible on length would it be more effective to have a packing routine of sorts that would incorporate two different cylinders, one for backing like you said for 5-10 min and then move up to another bigger cylinder to expand more normally? or just pack and expand in length direction for as long and as comfortably as possible? If you don't mind posting or linking me to your routine, that would be much appreciated.

You are talking about move up cylinder size, correct?
