I've always assumed that BPEL is the standard length measurement, and is pressed firmly in the skin at the side of your penis. Am i doing this right?

For tracking purposes, side or top is acceptable as long as you stay consistent. For comparing to studies, top is more commonly used. However, BPEL is determined by pushing a hard ruler against the pubic bone. A tape measure is not a good ruler for measuring BPEL. Your picture seems to better illustrate NBPEL as it is not being pushed hard against your pubic bone.Valued Member of 12+ years at the PEGym12/'09 (start) NBP EL - 4.5, EG - 4.4

You have to measure from the top. Take a ruler, put it on top of your penis, and start pushing it closer and closer to your body till it just "stops" at your skin. If you have to use force, it means you're pressing. So just keep lowering the ruler till it "stops" and you need a little force to make it go lower. That's your NBPEL. To get your BPEL, after that "stop," keep ramming it in till you literally feel the ruler at you pelvic bone. That's BPEL. You aren't 6.5" NBPEL. You're 5.5" NBPEL. Either way, it's always better to under-measure than over-measure.
