Which girth number do you use?

So much discussion about how condom companies define girth measurements, and guys here picking the largest single area to measure, etc., I thought we should poll it. In my case my MEG is the average of my whole shaft (I am largest at the base and taper down as I move toward my glans). I use my MEG as my girth measurement, not my base which is nearly an inch larger.

Perhaps we need a new PE term: Average Erect Girth (AEG). That would be defined as the average of three girth location measurements: base, mid, and just below the glans.

I measure MEG, even though I think that the widest part is more important.

I am sure many use base girth in their signatures also used when asked how thick are you as in polls.
I assume when reading girth in sigs like 7 X 5 it is 5" at base otherwise they would put 7X5 MSEG
Usually if you see 5 at base then you can believe they are smaller at MSEG most likely 7 X 4.7"

Whichever is Fine; Just Make it Clear

Clarity is the issue.

If it is Mid-Shaft, then say "Mid Shaft" although where the "Mid" is located is a difficult question.

If thickest portion; then say "thickest portion".


I think studies use "thickest portion" to avoid the issue of base or mid shaft.

But I have not read the original peer reviewed studies, only summaries done later by non scientists.

They basically dont understand the issue as in depth as we do, lol.


Personally, Mid Shaft matters because it's where the most action happens.

Base girth is wonderful, but more for the clit, not for the deeper portions of the vagina.

When measuring here, I try to present pictures up and down the shaft.

Bone Ignored Size and Mid-Shaft Girth

Midshaft. I could cheat myself and say my base girth is what my actual girth is, but that's just silly. Kinda like measuring BPEL from the side of your penis to bypass the pelvic base bone and gain an extra inch or so.

Seen both "bone ignored" size and a very hefty girth (6.5" mid-shaft, measured).

I never cared about BEG until I started getting questions about it. That is why my original BEG is unknown. I care most about my MSEG and that is the measurement I use for my goals.

I measure both MSEG and BEG and will often list both if I have cause to post my stats. Hard to avoid the temptation when you have an extra 1" at the base over midshaft.

I go with midshaft, I dont have much of a change in my shaft, I guess unless i pull the fat pad into it but I could get alot that way.

They are video captures of "Castro" being measured.

You will see that the length measurement is 'more than' bone pressed, but the girth is a legitimate 6.5" midshaft.

I ignore my base girth because at my length there's very little chance of using it. I could claim it to inflate me since I taper out as I get closer to the base, but I couldn't really care less about it.

when i see "MEG" or "MSEG" I see "Mid Erect Girth" or "Mid-Shaft Erect Girth" meaning that at one point in the center of your penis it such-and-such a size.

Base Girth for me is 6.5" but midshaft i was 6". I'm 5.75-ish now (took a break)... That's the only measurement that matters to me, when measuring, but it's nice to know all the stats.
