  • "The bow" is a MUST for your pelvic floor stretching routine!

Some of you might know Elliott Hulse of Youtube fame.

He has this stretch that he calls "the bow" / breathing into your balls.

Here's an in depth explanation of what this stretch does and how you perform it:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhJbXPvSDKE

He even mentions it to cure PE! (of course, this alone probably doesn't help but who knows).

I've done this a couple of times now and if you do it correctly (really lean back, open up jaw, breathe), you can really feel it in your pelvic floor. The great thing is that it also relaxes your jaw (connected to your pelvic floor) and other parts of your body.

Doing this stretch I also really feel the "front" pelvic muscles relaxing.

Try it out guys, I'll be including this one from now on in my routine!

I feel a stretch but i wonder if it is stretching the muscles in your lower abs as well that pull your pelvis up. I feel it in the PF when i do a front RK but also nervous because i have APT and don't want to make it worse if i'm stretching muscles i need to be more tense.

I think the breathing he is talking about is actually a rk.

Too me it's just a standing cobra pose and doesn't feel as strong as cobra IMO.

I think so too, in another video he mentions that "breathing into your balls" means breathing so deeply that your pelvic floor expands, just à la RK.

It defnitely stretches a lot, also your abs and muscles that are technically not ideal to stretch if you have APT, BUT in another video he also mentions that people often have this tight "belt" in the abs/stomach area just above their pelvis which prevents them from breathing deeply. So stretching the muscles in this "belt" allows you to easier breathe deeply and therefore probably also makes it easier to RK.

This is the video I'm refering to in both cases:

I found the first half when he talks about deep breathing quite interesting to watch.
