  • Citalopram?

Ive been issued an SSRI called Citalopram by my doctor for depression/anxiety and wanted to know if this will delay my ejaculation? im on an introductory course so only 10mg doses for now.

Drop the citalopram and switch to sertraline. Citalopram caused my blood pressure to rise. This also lead to blood pressure drops under heavy exertion. No such problems with sertraline.

Ive read that different people react differently to different SSRI's so im just going to carry on and see what happens, if i happen to expereince any symptoms like that then setraline or something like paroxetine would be my next bet. But what i wanted to know is if Citalopram will have an effect on it because i dont actually know for sure how common it is for SSRI's to effect someone's ejacualtion time?

Citalprom will delay your ejaculation no problem. I took (20mg) and it did but im sure 10mg would be enough.

Well Danger you went to your doctor with a problem. He did his exam, he talked to you, he knows your history, so he prescribed a medication that he feels will be most successful for you.You did not go to him with an ejaculation problem so he doesn't know or even care about it. He cares, and is trying to treat, what you came to see him for. The class of drugs we call SSRI are not really one's you can mix and match; here don't take that one take this one.It doesn't work that way. If you are concerned about ejaculation than call him, express your concerns, and see what he says.Anxiety and depression can be far worse on your sex life than the effect of a drug!

Jason how long was you on it for? did you notice any other side effects? and thanks for posting.

CUSP82, my doctor does know and this is why we come to the agreement of SSRI's so that hopefully my medication will have a good impact on most aspects of my problems. So if you are taking Citalopram or have some information on it then you or anybody else could answer a few questions for me, for example could i expect to see a signifficant increase in how long i can last after waiting a while for the citalopram to take effect?
