  • Help me plan a "date"

I have been wondering what to do this weekend. I just got out of a four year relationship. I kicked her out last week, but the relationship has been over for almost nine months. As such I am in no way interested in a serious relationship. I am also not all that interested in sex. I would probably go for it if I was attracted to a girl but I am not after that right now.
Knowing that I am only slightly interested in sex and definitely not interested in a relationship how should I handle this situation.
I have been messaging back and forth with one of my ex's recently. I knew her long ago, probably almost 12 years. I asked for her number and she sounds interested in hanging out. I am wondering whether I should ask her out this weekend and if I do what should I do with her? I know this has been asked before, but I have literally not dated since I graduated from high school in 2004, and even then it was not real dates.
I do not want to take her out on a serious date and have her think I am interested in something I am not. How should I address this aspect in a civil way. What kind of environment would show I am interested in spending time with her but not serious about a relationship? Just so its clear I doubt I would be interested in a relationship with her in the future as well.

don't make it feel like a date. have 2 tickets to a concert, or a baseball game, or a play, etc. and tell her you'd enjoy her company. play it super casual, keep it light and fun, laugh a lot.

Yeah, if you're not interested in a relationship or sex, you should just play it casual. Go to a fun place, hang out, talk, laugh... it seems you're clear about what you expect so it should be pretty easy for you to decide what to do.

As for the whole "getting back into dating" thing, take it slow and easy. Realize that your first few dates will likely fail because you're out of practice, learn from them, and make the next ones better.

I say this in, it seems like every post, but I'm going through a divorce right now. Been married for 7 years, exclusive for 9 years. I plan on going through 2 years of bad dates before I get the hang of it again. Set a new goal for each date, like: keep the conversation going, or learn how to compliment without seeming creepy, something like that. That way, even if you don't even get a kiss at the end of the night, at least you reached your personal goal.
      Starting (3/14/2011) = 5" x 4"
      Current (7/16/2013) = 5.75" x 4.125"

      Short-Term Goal = BPEL 6"
      Long-Term Goal = 7.5" x 5.5"

Well I have always believed that woman chooses to go out with u but you are the one who makes things serious. So don't call her every day, when u go out with her bring her to some place u like. Show her your environment and just have fun. Be friendly and playful not serious, creepy and nervous. You can go for compliments like Qarzan said but try something sarcastic and funny like : "Nice shoes! Do they come in women sizes!". Have Fun this is the key point in any date!

Go to multiple places. Like... start by meeting somewhere, like a pub or café, then walk to a nearby museum or something, then... I think finishing off somewhere mundane would be good. Show her that you're fun, not the places around you. Overall, walking dates are fun. It gives the illusion of the date being longer than it actually was, which makes her feel closer to you.
