How to dress for a bar?

Hey guys. Short post since it's late, but do you have any advice on how to dress and present oneself at bars? I'm currently living in Butte Montana. There isn't a lot to do here, but a number of the local establishments seem to get good reviews, and I'm thinking of checking one out. I go to school AND work full time currently, but when I'm not going to school, working, or doing homework, I find myself sitting at my apartment and twiddling my thumbs! Nothing is going to change unless I make it happen and so I'm thinking that one of these nights I want to just go out, meet some people, and have fun. Advice from experienced bar hoppers appreciated. One of my goals is to get lucky, so hopefully I can accomplish that. :-P

P.S. The whole of Montana seems to have a cowboy/wild west vibe so I don't think any of the bars here would be too upscale.

Depends on the bar.

Dive bars I'd usually just rock a v-neck, jeans, and vans or something. I do lift a lot so v-necks look pretty spiffy.

If I feel like going to a more upscale bar (relative to a dive bar) or feel like getting swagged up, then a fitted (preferably) button down, jeans, and my sweet brown loafers or black dressier shoes. Polo's are also doable.

My black long sleeve polo or fitted black button down, some nice jeans, and black dress shoes with a square toe was always a hit. I used to play baseball so I'm used to rocking fitted hats, I'd always put on a white/black one with my shit and a nice watch/belt.

I've been to a couple of bars in Montana and they definetly have a Western flavor.

If it were me I would do an investigative fly bye if you know what I mean.
Just stop in grab a quick libation, canvas the clientle and head out.

I'm hoping I can find some nice clothes at Goodwill. I'm a poor college student and I have to be very careful with my money right now. I dunno when or if I'll have the time and money to visit some bars during the school year. During the summer though when I don't have school bills to worry about, I'm hoping to have a little more play money. I'll just have to see what happens.

You can find some really nice stuff at GoodWill.
i know as I donate often.
its more work to sell the stuff than give it to a worthy cause.

Plus it's where I got my Lt Dangle "Reno 911" Halloween costume.

I go like that. Eventually dark red pants. White shirt with a pattern and black accesories. Or same bright trousers and checked shirt.
