Also, don't feel bad about bringing it up with her or asking her to do that for you. You may feel like you were worried about nothing, that you asked her to do that and it wasn't necessary.

And, she knew exactly why you were asking for it. And she did it anyways, because she wanted to build that trust with you, and she knew she wasn't lying.

If you have insecurities and need reassurance, don't be afraid to ask for it. Or maybe I should state it as, don't let your fear keep you from asking for it.

And this is a great answer. Congrats!

Yes, because otherwise there is suspicion between you two. The suspicion creates distance, and then the relationship has no chance. She's glad you asked her because, by asking this and getting your answer, you created closeness, trust, and honesty. At the risk of revealing deceit, lying, and mistrust.

A risk that was totally worth it, no matter how it turned out.

I tried long distance internet dating once (once was enough) and the anticipation of having sex (or making love...whatever you want to call it) meant that when it did happen it was blooming marvelous!

And I ended up going to Portland, Oregon for a while all the way from the UK...something I wouldn't have ever done otherwise.

Grab those opportunities son while you're still young and experience life...the good and the bad.

                      Thanks for your interest.

I had just come out of a long marriage and a bitter divorce so the adventure was great for my soul...I felt like being a bit risque and taking a few chances.

The relationship didn't last but I don't regret it one bit...made me feel alive again and realise that there's a big wide world out there and sometimes taking a risk is worth it...even if it is just for the experience.

P.S. Do you want more details? I don't mind being asked.

Long marriage, bitter divorce, sounds like my life. Although my divorce was amicable.

Have you considered polyamory? I'm exploring that right now, have been for 2 years, and it's just freaking amazing. You mentioned Portland, OR. There's lots of poly people up there. Have you heard of it, have you explored it?

Also, I understand this is not the intent of the thread. ta53ora, if you want to start a new thread instead of hijack this one, we can fully discuss this over there. Just post here where we can find it.

I was mindful of not wanting to hijack this thread from this besotted young man...but it is an interesting subject.

I might just take your advice and start a new thread shortly...just chasing a flying friggin' beetle around the room with my fly swatter at the mo after leaving the windows open after a hot day.

I would say that the OP has mentioned crying a few times in this thread...my advice would be try to not let your emotions get the better of you...but hey ho...such is love!
