You have to figure that everyone has a past.

You may be concerned with her sexual history, just as she may be concerned with yours. Its part of life so you both have to learn how to cope with it.

You don't ask if you know it will bother you. If you are secure with yourself and realize that a girl will or will not have X number of sexual partners, you'll be okay with it. If not, I suggest not asking and learning to accept that women are sexual beings (just like men) and will have sex (whether they're with you or not).

I'm bothered by their behaviours, more than their sexual past. If they have a behaviour of sleeping around as a fault in their personality, instead of wanting to simply experiment, I tend to have trouble with that. A fault in their personality as in, they feel like something is wrong, so they go and find a guy to fuck to try and fix something in them, that's a red flag to me. A girl who has a higher number but is confident about it, and was just having her mature fun, I see no harm. The girl that does it out of fault in themselves, I see red flags, I find it harder to trust them to be committed I guess.

If it is a new beginning between the two of you, you simply make the rules up front. I won't ask about your past relationships, and you don't ask about mine. And then stick by that rule. There is nothing good that will come from knowing what went on in the past. Move forward and build a relationship. If you dwell in the past, you will never experience the present and certainly will not make it to the future.
