Congratulations to everyone who got the Honorable Mention!

Damn... I feel like there are really some more people who deserved to be on that list who didn't get there (Not talking about myself, I know for a fact that I will never get such an award (because of some specific reasons))

I also feel like there are some people on that list that really didn't deserve it (opinion). The reason I'm saying that is because I don't find some of the people on that list to be posting valuable posts. (opinion/fact, that's debateable). I'm not really going into names unless people want to know.

Anyways... I guess it was up to the staff to decide who got the award or not. I agree on most of them, and the ones I don't agree on aren't really "too far off"..., I really don't hope anyone takes serious offense from this. If it's too bad (hard to see if it's okay or "too bad" when you are the one typing it... I can read it as neutral, as a single opinion, others can read it differently.)

Now as for you newguy, well you do have many good posts. To make the list though you'd need a bit of seasoning. You see at times you tend to be a bit caustic and maybe a bit too argumentative. I'm not ever saying you can't disagree with others but maybe you should look at how you make your disagreement known. My friend Pirate says 'the art of diplomacy is telling someone to go to hell in such a way as to make them look forward to the trip". When you learn to voice your disagreements in such a manner you'll be right up there with the big boys!

Okay so then who would you have added?

I feel like the list represent more the last 2 months of the year instead of entire 2013. I also feel like there were 3-4 members who just was thrown on the list and got the reward because "why not"? I feel like that was the mindset that was used for those 3-4. It really made it a "low" requirement scale to get the award. Here are the ones I personally would've added and why I would've added them:

anonymity- I actually remember that I didn't like her at first, I don't know why I just didn't. (Back when I was a bit more negative in general). After a whlie I got respect for this woman, I opened my eyes, I read the posts and it was straight up value. It was one of those times when you read one of her post and thought to yourself... "Wow.. just because I read that I got a little bit smarter than what I was. And "Wow, this tips can really come in handy one day. Great personality as well!

Sweetie52- Great lady, great posts of great value. The most honest women on the forum (no offense to the others). This woman says and gives tips the way it is. (I realized some women on this forum actually holds back on some stuff because they want their posts to be liked as much as possible.) Sweetie says it the way it is.

ammonite- Okay.. he's definitely not the one who's topping the list. But I'm pretty sure EVERYONE in the Prem Ej forum likes his opinions, comments, theories, thoughts. And I personally do find them very valuable.

TLCTugger- This man need no introduction. I can't believe he haven't won a real award yet. This guy is a freakin' beast, makes such a huge difference on the forum you can't imagine. In my opinion, he even beats quite a few member of the month members in terms of being absolutely needed on the forum. (Bad thought, but if you set this guy up against some of the members of the month award winners (the weakest) and you could decide to do 2 things. 1. Delete all TLCTugger's help, advice, posts and research and tips for the forum or delete all the posts to this considered "weak" MOTM. I would delete the MOTM. Period. Nothing else to it.

HMH- Damn.. I had a few more but forgot them, anyways I guess you get my point? There are several members who had extremely good posts in the earlier parts of this year as well that has just been forgotten...

Yepp, I already know this, that's why I agree on the decision of not putting me on the list. And that is why I probably won't get on the list ever. (That's what I meant with that I won't get on the list because of some specific reasons). I have made some stupids posts, stupid arguments and It's very difficult to get on the list when half of the "powerful" members hate you, 40% of them are neutral to you and 10% of them like you...

Well there you have it...

Hey newguy, no one hates you so get that out of your head. Just have fun and make your disagreements more pleasant and you may be surprised.

As for annonimity and sweetie not making the list, well they simply didn't put out enough; I'm talking breakfast so take your mind out of the gutter!

Thank you for the congratulations Thenewguy! Did i deserve to be on the list? i don't know. 2011 i think i would've got on the list. In those days i was a prolific poster, i was full of beans and enthusiasm and i liked to help people. Fast forward to 2013 and i admit i wasn't so helpful in 2013. The big reason is that i hadn't made any PE gains in a long long time so my mentality was "how can i give someone PE advice when i can't gain myself". So because of this i often didn't.

And i've looked at your list of who you think should have got on the list and i agree you've spotted good choices. I could think of 100s who i would've put on the list. Saying that i would'nt begrudge any member who did get on the list because i'm positive all of them (including me ) made numerous valuable posts.

A valuable post can be something simple like welcoming a new member and that post becomes valuable to that new member because it put them at ease and made them feel welcome at pegym. A post can be valuable to someone because it made them smile or laugh for the first time that day and cheered them up. It can be a simple "congratulations" that gives someone an imaginary pat on the back and makes them feel special. It can be reading a post in a progress log and then being inspired. It can be reading a story that someone as written in the "fiction section" and enjoying reading the story. Yes the list of what can be deemed as a "valuable post" is endless.

So virtually all members at PEgym make many valuable posts.

Yepp, you are right. It's hard to make a list like that.. I even forgot someone... Damn.. I had a feeling that I forgot someone and I was right..I forgot Frog (I remember it originally was Frog72, but not sure if she renamed or not, can't remember.) I would've also have added WantsGirth if it wasn't for the fact that he got banned. I still have questions that this guy could answer with his expertise.

I think I know how it got made which is why it was so easily to forget someone even though you had an entire team. 1 guy comes up with the idea, he creates the list (an example list), puts in the name of the people that deserved it and send it to the other people on the team. They read the names, get a "blackout" which makes them enable to remember the other names because the list was so right and they agree with the "example list". Good people, good posters. They end up not editing the first version of the list because they forgot the others, they thought it would be alright to post and it as it was. (When there are 1 or 2 guys who makes the example list it's easy to forget someone, even I forgot someone...)

Ok, this is understandable. This is where it gets opinion based. I personally think that both anonymity and sweetie did a better job than the 2-3 worst on the current list.

This is actually a very good point that I didn't really think of. I guess you can say that some posts gets a higher value in terms of value raiting compared to others. The ones that comment: "I agree, +1" on some threads I don't really see them valuable. But you are indeed right, it is valuable to the confused guy who created the thread because it gives him security and trust that several people agree with what 1 guy said... It is a value post, but this guy would get a lower "raiting value" than the guy who made the original post and not the guy who copied it.
Makes sense?

I've got some private messages about some people asking what I mean with some things, and I realized that some people may have been a bit confused about it. (I got messages about people wondering what I meant with someone being a "weak" MOTM (Member of the Month), who I don't think deserved to be on the list (the current list), and what I meant with some women being more honest and some holding back on some stuff.

I won't take this in the open forum as it can be taken to be a bit negative, or some people may find it negative. I also really don't want to give out names of who I don't think deserved to be on the list in the open forum unless people ask me here like Schittle and Arkham did. (Some may be a bit uncomfortable if they see their name here which is why I don't do it...

This thread was started at the end of the year, to honor specific members
that the staff felt deserved special recognition, not to be discussed by the membership other than to offer congratulations.

Do not take it upon yourself to pick apart the effort made by the staff to point out certain members for their work and contributions for the past year.

You are wrong on your perception of the process. This was an entire month in the selection process with many posts in a Moderator thread. Not some haphazard, list that was just thrown together.

To those of you that might feel slighted for not being selected, there is always this year to make your mark and become a stand-out on this site.

I am closing this thread now as I don't want to read any more criticism about
our decisions.
