It wasn't just hey I'm here for a business meeting, or for a date, it was a look that you could tell he'd carefully put together because he wanted to impress/wow people. I mean shoes do NOT get that shiny without serious effort, you could have used them as mirrors. And it totally, totally rubbed me the wrong way, all I could think was that it looked so contrived and fake and how I wanted to get as far away from the guy as possible.
. Maybe he just likes to dress that way. It’s not always about others. Some people just like to stand out and separate themselves. It’s just not your thing and that’s your prerogative.

And that's fine, and I totally get that. My appearance definitely stands out most of the time, and it's for me not for other people.

My point was that so many of the "expert" surveys and lists seem to tell guys that oh women look at shoes and judge you by your shoes, women think that that if you're not wearing nice shoes then you don't have money and can't afford to treat them well and if you have really expensive shoes they'll be more interested in you. I have always maintained that I virtually never notice a man's shoes and don't really care what type of shoes he's wearing, and that the one time I actually DID notice a guy's fancy shoes I didn't end up with a good impression of him (for a variety of reasons). I'm not knocking guys that like to wear fancy shoes, I'm just giving it as a real-life example of how you can't rely on those "expert" articles to tell you what women are going to find attractive, and if you're a guy that can't afford fancy-ass clothing you shouldn't feel like you're not going to be able to attract women because some writer needing to meet a deadline has said that women prefer guys with fancy shoes.

You know he may have been a veteran. We vets tend to lay shoe polish on pretty thick not to impress the ladies but out of habit. I think you're jumping too conclusions about his intention for having shiny shoes when it's purely up to speculation.

Can't we just move on from this and agree that he was pathetic for falling for an MLM instead of focusing on the man's shoes?

I don't think she was jumping to conclusions, she was talking about first impressions. Everybody has different tastes and could have polar opposites of their first impression of the same individual would be. She is pointing out that these one shoe fits all(no pun intended) advice and observations of these so called experts pretty much only applies to their audience, not everyone. I could tell you that my wife would have had the same first impression of this guy as she did.
To totally satisfy a woman sexually is not about having a large penis, it's about being a good lover.

I'm just offended because I like my shiny shoes.

I had some shiny shoes once. The shine didn't last long at all once I started cutting firewood.

I wear skate shoes and they are beat to hell..
most skate shoes are very expensive anyways think 90$ range the most I spent was $150 and I got some rare ones also for a bargain. even a used pair could sell for 150-200 to some sucker since it was a very limited release i.e to one retailer in the US..(no longer sold) so if someone wanted a pair they gotta pay a lot for it

I don't look at a guy's shoes but def his hands. If there's any length on his fingers nails that's a no from me. I don't know why but when I see men with length on their nails it gives me the creeps.
Women were created from the rib of man to be beside him, not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled by him, but from under his arm to be protected by him, near to his heart to be loved by him.
