  • Should I walk my date to the door?

I have never taken a girl on a really formal date. Literally never. Why? I'm an idiot.

I have most of the night planned out, but my last concern is whether or not I should walk her to the door. I have no intention of following her into her apartment. I want to play it slow and show her that I actually want to be in a real relationship with someone. I don't really plan on doing the cliche kiss goodnight bit on her doorstep. Is walking a girl to the door a very polite gesture? Or is it a subtle hint from the man that he is expecting a kiss or invitation in?

Small background to this first date: we met at a social gathering a few days ago and definitely had a connection. I know we are both excited to hang out soon.

Walk her in. It is not about a kiss or invite, but showing her that you are the protector and want to ensure her safety and security by walking her to the door. Unlikely anything crazy will happen between the door and your car, but the gesture still spark signs of security and masculinity in her subconscious.

      Hey TheCrag,

Congratulations on your upcoming date; that is really wonderful!

Now as far as walking her to the door...I say, absolutely. It is a gentlemanly gesture that she will no doubt appreciate and remember.

I guess I am getting old; however, I have never heard of anyone not walking their date to the door, especially the first date.

You may find she will ask you not to walk her to her door. Not because she doesn't like you but because she doesn't want the awkwardness and the probability that her folks or others are watching, so she maybe more comfortable with agreeing the next date or whatever and you simply waiting in your car till she is safely inside.

If nothing is said then assume the walk to the door is accepted.

Remember, she is worrying about and considering these exact same questions.
