  • 2 infrared heat lamp questions

I'm preferably asking for the input of those who use an infrared heat lamp/light for their warm ups/downs or entire PE sessions.

Question 1: Is a 125 watt by 120 volt infrared heat lamp powerful enough to warm up and penetrate the skin properly? I can opt for a 250 watt by 120 volt but the clamp light is giant, whereas the 125 watt one is a decent size.

Question 2: I've read that a ceramic clamp light is preferred for holding infrared lights, so as to not burn other fixtures like plastic. Would an aluminum clamp light work well for an infrared light, so as it might not burn it and cause a fire. The particular one I have in mind is fitted for a max of 125 watt which falls in line with the light I've thought about purchasing.

I've attached a pictures of the products in question. The light costs $9.42 and the aluminum heat lamp is $9.97. Should I proceed in buying these two products, I feel they're worth it, just would like a few opinions.

My heat lamp is 100 watts and it's more than hot enough. So 125 watts should be fine.

And this is the one i bought Beurer Infrared Lamp 100w for Colds and Muscle Strains IL11 - CurrentBody.com and as you can see it has a hard plastic surround and although the plastic gets very hot to touch it doesn't melt. So i'm no expert but i'd imagne the aluminium fiitting would be just fine.

Mods + Admin: I'm obviously not spammer so i only show this link to help Koh.

Thanks Schlittle. I shall buy my setup tomorrow then. What do you use to protect your testicles during heat up?

I just hold a small paperback book in front of my testicles. I guess anything that's reasonably thick will do.

Hm okay. But I've heard from white cloths encased in a glass cup to an aluminum wrapped plate in front of it.

To be honest Koh i haven't done any research in it. I just thought a book was good enough because i feel my testicles during the warm up and i can't feel any heat.

No worries. I'll do more research on it. Thanks for the info though. My warm ups will be much more productive.
