Hey everyone a week ago I did a thyroid uptake scan because of my thyroid levels where I take a radioactive pill and come back the next day for a scan where I am the source of radiation. I was told that I would pee out all this radiation, to sit down when peeing to avoid splashing and to flush twice after peeing so nobody in my family would be exposed when using the restroom. A week later and now for the first time of my life I cant even get a erection no matter what and when I do get one it is very weak. Also I dont know what this means but my semen has become watery for the first time as well and it literally happened after doing this scan. I am very bothered right now because it feels so weird not being able to get an erection easily. Before taking this pill I could get an erection just from kissing a girl or even thinking about sex. My theory is that the radiation I peed out was very close to the penis and testicles causing damage to them. I am concerned since I am so young and have no idea what to do because I bet you if I went to a doctor all they would say is its probably psychological even though I have never expiernced any type of erectile dysfunction all my life even when I am with girls as well until having this scan done. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply.

You're paying for the treatment you receive, therefore you have every right to ask questions about your treatment and demand answers.Originally posted by chris13 View PostNo, I am pretty sure they wouldnt take me seriously about this subject because of my age and would say its just stress or whatever.
I doubt whether you are going to find the answers to your questions here I'm afraid. You need professional advice. The name's Tamora...TVR Tamora...with a capital "T".

Talk to the doc, they may tell you it's a normal reaction to the treatment so ask instead of stressing out for most likely nothing.Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before

If a cancer patient gets radiation treatment, their hair falls out. But it also eventually grows back. You had a major procedure done. I assume if permanent ED was a side effect that would have been discussed upfront. I would still talk to your doctor, but stop stressing in the meantime. We have injuries here from time to time from overworking our units. They heal with time - how much time, can't tell as everyone is different.

The magical thing that is the internet is also at times our worst enemy. Do not google negative side effects of any drug, procedure, event, happening. You will feed your fears and never sleep again. And just like the world of online reviews of products, services or establishments - the majority of people who review and post are those that had a less than perfect experience. It ignores the thousands of positive experiences and only tells you of the negative. So, read with caution and don't believe anything other than what your doctor tells you.Originally posted by chris13 View PostI really hope that this is just a side effect but the only thing that I have been able to find online is people who have undergone pelvic radiation which ended up causing ed that did not go away.

I understand but I was trying to find out if this was a possible side effect and I have spoken to people who have had this same treatment and did not expiernce any erectile dysfunction or watery semen. Basically what I am trying to say is if this radiation did cause damage to my penis and testicles then I am screwed. Thats why I hope its just a side effect.

Is it possible you might be reading into the wrong type of cause? Some men who undergo prostate cancer radiation treatments experience ED. They might also experience this with hyperthyroid treatment.
It would be worth calling your doc and asking if impotence is an expected symptom for the procedure you underwent.Want a FREE Month of Coaching? PM or email me for details- or CLICK HERE

The amount of radiation in that pill is so small it wouldn't do a thing to you. I know many who have gotten that est and are fine. I think you're making to much of it.The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

Cusp82 you are right the amount of radiation in the pill is small and its not like I was worried or thought that this pill would cause any side effects especially with my penis. All I am saying is what I observed and that is I couldnt get an erection anymore since taking that pill and my semen has become watery as well. I dont know why these things happened but I do know that before the scan I had never expiernced any sort of erectile dysfunction whatsoever and have always had thick semen.Last edited by chris13; 06-27-2016, 04:48 PM.

The radiaoactive iodine was was only taken up, absorbed if you will, by the cells in your thyroid. The rest just harmlessly went through the system. If you want to believe you have some type of weird radiation sickness go right ahead.
Hey have you gone to the dentist lately? Far more radiation in his stuff than what you had.The world's still a toy if you just stay a boy!

Weird radiation sickness?? Oh man Thats funny cause I never said that, but I am using my common sense unlike you. First of all dont be ignorant and speak on things you dont know cause the radiation doesnt just leave the body harmlessly like you think so, if that was the case the doctor wouldnt have told me to flush twice after peeing and I wouldnt have been told to sit down when I pee as well. The radiation that I peed out was not harmless and was foucsed right on my bare testicles and penis since I was obviously sitting down. Yes I have been to the denist twice this year but of course you proved your ignorance by thinking that I believe any radiation treatment would cause this.
