  • Ed after quitting smoking

Hi, everyone. Long time reader, first time poster LoL

I have something that's concerning me. I'm 32 years old. I've been able to ejaculate since literally my 11th birthday. Always had pretty strong, hard erections, and outrageous ejaculations. I was a huge squirter. Usually a 3x a day jerker, even when I have a regular partner.

I had been smoking since I was 18 and rather enjoyed it. Not much, a pack on the weekends and one pack for the week. I decided to quit four months ago just because I know it's not good for you. Didn't really suffer from any major problems related to smoking, and decided not to press my luck, so I decided to just quit. Within a few days of quitting, my erections started becoming weaker and my ejaculations were very weak and hardly anything would come out. It would shoot out really thin and watery or a few big goopy drops. When I was a smoker, I could practically get hard on command. But when I quit, it was difficult for me to get an erection.

I went exactly two months to the day when it clicked. Was this happening because I quit smoking? It was on my mind and I ended up caving in after a few drinks and bam! Wouldn't you know that I'm in a bar and while I'm smoking, I started getting a rock-hard boner. Felt like my dick was going to explode. I decided to go home and I sat outside on my patio, smoking another one. Went inside and started to jack-off. When I climaxed, I ejaculated so strong with tons of cum. It felt so good and I was very relieved that it was working again. I went on smoking for a month and was able to get my routine back to normal. Then I quit again. And it's happened all over again. Been one month since I've quit again and my libido and ejaculations are just pathetic.

Has anyone experienced this? What is it? What can I do?

Nicotine enhances the effects of adenosine, which is very important for erections. Caffeine does similar things, and increases ones sensitivity to adenosine as well. Thats why I time my caffeine intake to my PE work.

Although I think nicotine has effects on libido also, not sure.

Can you get erected now with porn without phisical stimulation?
Have you took SSRI (Antidepressants), Propecia/Finasteride (Anti-hairloss) or Accutane (Anti-acné) anytime now or in the past?

        Welcome to the forums !

You might consider an experiment with either Nicorette gum, or some nicotine patches.
Save your lungs, and see if you can learn something.
Then there is the Vapor paraphernalia.

Or, keep away from nicotine all together.

My guess is your weak erection is due to stress.
          Start(11/14/2016) : 7.25 BPEL , 5.5 MSEG
          02/11/2017 : 7.6 BPEL, 5.6 MSEG

          GOAL : 7.5 BPEL , 6.25 MSEG

As far as I know... the opposite is true i.e. smoking causes erection issues. And you are saying you get hard while smoking. To me... it seems like you are absolutely fine. It is your body's trick to get smoking. In other words... your mind is trying hard to convince your (with these fake illusions) to smoke.

I think you should tell your body and mind something like...."Hey, I know you are playing games with me, I am NOT going to smoke even a single time anymore. Tell me if you want sexual pleasure or not?? If not then fine... start doing your office/home work".

You need to show your will power here. And you are absolutely fine. So, cheer up.

              I haven't taken any medications.

I can get hard but it's not as hard as when I do smoke. And when I ejaculate, it's pathetic. Hardly anything, watery, and probably 1/4 of what I was able to while I smoked.

It's really bothering me though. I've started working out to cope with whatever stress I have and to get rid of that toxins. I'm thinking maybe I need to just get really healthy and cleanse my body from the years of smoking.

I'm thinking, smoking was probably a subconscious sexual trigger. In the morning, after work, before bed, etc., I would usually smoke a cigarette, relax for a bit and either have sex or jack off. Maybe my body was just used to it.

But, I swear, not smoking has had a serious effect on me sexually.

That simply has nothing do with smoking, I would highly question your observations being linked to merely quitting smoking.

Smoking can contribute to erectile dysfunction. It definitely has a negative impact on your sexual performance. It is because of the poor blood flow to the penis due to smoking cigarettes. Many men experience it during times of stress. If your erections aren’t regular, you should be careful with exercise and diet. There are many erectile dysfunction treatments available. Have you ever taken such treatments? I’ve found other sources on the Internet that say the same thing. Hope you come out of it.

That is normal. Your body is adjusting to the changes, you have trained your body to function with nicotine. Give it time, eat healthy and go exercise. Supplement with B5. For more info check my signature. Goodluck

first time i ever heard of it, but i'd guess it could be linked to stress or anxiety. cigarettes ease the burden of stress and anxiety in some, quitting may have increased those two elements and perhaps that is what is causing your ED. i see no adverse health effects in quitting smoking, even though some speculate it is harder to quit cigarettes then it is heroin (though Heroin literally could kill you if you quit cold turkey!)
Life struggle with extreme erectile dysfunction since I was 15. Diagnosed with venous leak. When I turned 30-years old, I found out I had hypogonadism (low testosterone) and sub-clinical hypothyroidism. TRT can be a cure for venous leak if you are hypogonadal.

Okay, so it’s been a while since I’ve been on and in that time there’s been multiple times I’ve quit smoking and started up again. The longest I went was 6 months and I was able to get normal erections again and ejaculate normally. But every time I’d quit and go a month or two same thing would happen—weak erections and poor ejaculations. I’m two and a half weeks in with quitting and it’s misery in that department again. I think if I can push it for a few months I’ll get back to normal, it happened when I went 6 months then caved when I started drinking with my buddies that smoke.

I wasn’t a heavy smoker to begin with, maybe 3 a day on average. But I think that was enough to do something to me mentally to not be able to get hard and cum normally. It takes A LOT of mental and psychical stimulation to get somewhat hard and to cum but I’m hoping it gets back to normal soon.

Thanks everyone for the advice and thank you for the support.
