It’s hard to know where to begin. Up until around 19 years old, I never notice any erection problems. I first had problems maintaining an erection during the summer of 2008. In November of 2008, I started dating the girl of my dreams, when we had been dating a while, and when we went to have sex for the first time, I had complete ED. I was in shock. We dated for 18 months, and throughout the relationships, I always had ED to some degree. Sometimes I could perform, sometimes I couldn’t, but even when my erection worked it took some coaxing if you know what I mean. We broke up after 18 months in May of 2010. She was as patient with my ed as I could expect a girl to be, but when we broke up she said it was because she no longer was attracted to me. I think it was basically a nice way to say I need a guy I can have sex with. It is now six months later, and my problems are as bad as ever.

I had ED problems for around a year before I finally went to a urologist because I was convinced it was not in my head. I had seen a family practice doctor about it before, but he dismissed me as just having performance anxiety.

At the urologists, two blood tests were taken. A testosterone both free and total and a prolactin test.
The results were not good. My free testosterone and total were both at the very low end of the range, and my prolactin was near the high end of “normal.” The Dr. ordered an mri of my pituitary gland to check for tumors, none were found. Also the doctor speculated that my grade 3 left varicocele, which had caused some left testicular shrinking, could be the cause of my ed. He thought it should be operated on. After the surgery my testosterone levels did improve. They were still low for my age but they nearly doubled. IN a normal range of around 290 to 800 for total testosterone I was now at 473, and my free testosterone in a normal range of 8 to 26, was a 12.6. My estrogen levels are consistently very low.

All summer I hoped for continued improvement but none really came, and I admit I am constantly depressed dealing with this. I know depression can give ed, but I feel that this depression cannot be lifted without the ed going away. My urologist recommended that I try some low dose wellbutrin to see if that could boost my libido since it raises dopamine. It has not really helppul, but I did not notice that my orgasms became stronger.

My varicocele unfortunately reoccurred, and I chose to have it fixed again, in hopes that my left testicle might eventually catch up. But I know I am most likely too old for that . Instead of surgery this time I chose emobilization. It has been a week since the surgery now, the pain is gone, but I still have ed as bad as ever.

Since the wellbutrin didn’t work, I asked to try Viagra or Cialis. I started taking once daily Cialis at 5mg, it has helped some but I still feel like I have pretty bad ed. It makes me wonder if I could have a venous leak of some kind.

I have never had a penis injury that I know of that could of caused the leak to form, and I probably was not born with it, because my erections were pretty good when I was younger.

However, I think I might have a symptom of some kind of penis injury. Lately my penis hurts all the time, not a horrible pain, but an ache. I’ve wondered if it could be from how I masturbate. I wouild really like an opinon on this. When my penis actually works……my erection points straight up to my belly button. I don’t know why but for years, when I masturbate I kneeled on the ground, in this position I would masturbate holding my penis out perpendicular to my body. I’ve wondered if doing this for years could of damaged my penis, since that is not the natural position for my erection. Would any of you recommend just not masturbating for a long time, to hopefully allow my penis to “heal.” It shouldn’t be that hard to do since my libido is so low. I think I only masturbate these days out of a vain hope, that I might see some kind of improvement.

I’ve gone through probably hundreds of threads on this website. Ones that have interested maybe the most are threads about porn inducing erectile dysfunction. I have been looking at pornography daily since I was 16. So six years, and I am not proud of it. I have gone down the typical slippery slope of looking at I would say more and more graphic pornography. I have decided to give up porn, even though I feel it does make having an erection at least somewhat easier. I am wondering if I have fried my dopamine sensors in my brain and desensitized myself to arousal. I am hoping if I give it up for long enough my brain can reboot.

I just don’t know where to turn, dealing with this during the “best” years of my life makes me feel nearly suicidal. No, I’m not going to kill myself, but i feel that is the best adj. for how upset this all makes me feel. Based on the description that I have given you, I would love any feedback or help that could be given especially in the areas of porn ed, the masturbation style I mentioned, and the possibility of having a venous leak (and what sure signs would be).

I have seen a ton of doctors over the past year, and very few take me seriously. They say look at you, your young and healthy your fine!. These doctors have included urologists and endocrinologists.

The daily Cialis seems to work a bit, and the Viagra helps perhaps more, but I prefer Cialis due to its “always ready” or at least longer lasting effects. I feel though these are patches, I want a solution, or at least to know to give up. Hoping in vain is rough. Its just so hard for me to know that if I don’t get better, I basically should give up on a normal marriage or kids.

I am going to try that postage stamp test tonight, but I never wake up with erections, occasionally I will wake up with a weak one at night but I would consider it more of a “pee erection” if you know what I mean.

Thanks guys ahead of time, I really wish I had someway of paying any help back

Okay let's start at the beginning.First, your depressed that your dick doesn't work and it won't work because you're depressesd but you won't be un-depressed until it works so you'll just continue remaining depressed.Whew talk about a vicious cycle.Well since it doesn't work then we can't really screw it up because it's already screwed up so we have nothing to lose don't we? First let's get rid of the notion that you injured your dick in some way.If you didn't get it caught in a vice grip then you didn't injure it jerking off unless you used a vice grip which most people don't do. Next, let's get rid of masturbation.I know it's fun but your little guy could use some rest.I don't care if you get so horney that the testosterone starts coming out of your ears; no playing with Mr Happy! ( yeah you can forget watching porn as well-ain't I just taking the fun out of life right now?) Unless directed by your physicain, I would say good bye to the Wellbutrin as well.Yeah it's a nice mood elevator but it has been known to decrease erectile function in a smal percentage of people and you may just be one of them. How depressed are you? Do you feel the need for medication? If not and your doc says it's okay then get rid of it.Next go over to the beginners section and look at JP's 90 day beginners program. No I'm not interested in making your dick bigger but what's written there will get your dick in good shape. It will help out to improve the bloodflow which does seem to help in getting a woody. Yes by all means drink Kingpole's erection tea; it tastes like shit ( I hate tea) but it has everything good for you in it.Now, let's talk about your head.Go out and have fun.Do somethings that you enjoy. What do you do for fun and when was the last time you did it? There is a big mental component to ed and you and you alone must get your head right.I know it's tough but it has been done by others before.Don't even think about your dick working for 90 days but it will work. The less you think about it the better. Don't even think about doing the postage stamp thing. That's stupid. From what you've said in your post I think your plumbing works fine. You just need to get the guy in shape a bit and work on your confidence. Why not give it a try; you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. You will be fine if you work at it and want to!

Your always depressed.....sounds like hypothyroid to me. Probably bordeline hypothyroid but that is enough to cause ED. Have you had a thyroid test done????

Keep looking, don't give up. And usually you can forget doctors, they don't treat the root, only mask the symptoms with pills. In some cases, erection issues are coming from issues in other parts of the body and first experienced there. Look elsewhere, beyond your penis and see what's working well, what's not, etc

If you can attain a normal erection on your own (not with a girl), then most likely the problem is psychological. If that's not the case, then it's physical. It's also possible that it's both, since a physical issue can lead to psychological issues and viceversa.

Go over your history and try to remember when this started and what may have happened to you at that time, both psychologically and physically, as well as emotionally.

Try to talk to someone, a friend, a psychologists, etc, so you really understand that people are behind you and supporting you and that you're not alone.

I know you said you cleaned your diet, but some body types do better on certain diets than others. Keep looking closely what else can be the issue.

Finally, take note of what has been working for some members here, kegels, pe, etc

                  Good luck!

These guys have all given you great advice, but you have already answered most of your concerns in your post. You have covered the whole gamut of doctors and tests, etc., so now you have to grab the bull by the horns and do what you know you need to do.

Stop watching porn immediately. Go cold turkey if you have to, but stop the porn. I've got a great substitute for it if you are interested and it's "all natural," so to speak.

Secondly, stop all masturbating. When you do start again down the road, try to masturbate without practicing your old pattern. Get rid of that way. It's outlived its useful days.

The Wellbutrin does cause some erectile dysfunction for some people, but it did the opposite for me, so you just never know. I would be cautious about eliminating it if you truly need it for depression.

You write beautifully. I congratulate you on your outstanding sentence skills. They led me through your story in a flash. You have some writer's voice. Congrats.

                        PeterDur,
I suffered from anxiety/depression and I'm 100% sure that in men it's caused by low testosterone, not vice versa. Just think about it, what does a man with high testosterone want to do? Fight or have sex, right? An episode of depression can be cured with a single shot of testosterone, if that was available. The key is keeping testosterone levels high. Before PE and supplementation, I would feel blue the next day after sex or masturbating. If I had sex two days in a row, without being horny, I knew I would get depressed. I just took it and rode with it because I knew I would get better.

KingPole, Im taking a lot of supplements, most of what has been recommended on the site. I don't know which one is doing what; I just know I feel on top of the world. I make myself a special drink, based on your erection tea:
2 tea bags (1 decaff) in a cup of hot water, decaffeinated coffee , 1 tablespoon of honey, a cinnamon stick, raw ginger slices, and creamer. I have this everyday and it's delicious. I chew on the ginger while sipping the drink- it's the erection tea to the next level.
As far as pills, this is what I take. The first four I think are the most important:
                        L-Arganine (3,000 mg)
                        Garlic (5,000 mg)
                        Green Tea (500 mg)
                        Tribulus (1,000 mg)

                        Ginko Biloba (120 gr)
                        Ginsen (500 gm)
                        Resvatrol (1,000 mg)
The Following Amino Acids (L-Lysine, Glysine, L-Glutamine)
                        ZMA
                        Fish Oil
                        Goat Weed with Maca
                        Biotin
                        Zinc
                        DHE
                        Saw Palmetto

I hope I'm not frying my liver!

Hopefully I can remember all the questions I want to ask everyone, thanks again, really all this input is sincerely appreciated.

Avoidcafferine- Thanks I checked those links out, luckily I drink zero caffeine and still have plenty of sensitivity in my penis. I honestly have not had a cup of coffee in my life! It is for the weak...jk

CUSP82- Yes the erection-depression relationship is a vicious cycle for me. I’m definitely going to get off the wellbutrin, I am not depressed, it’s the penis stuff that makes me depressed, if that was not in my life I would function fine. At least my grades have not really suffered. I believe that I did not injure my dick in anyway, but could I have been born with a venous leak that has gotten worse over time? My hormones are not the greatest is there any way to tell between hormonal and venous leak ed? I started the beginner exercises tonight; I only did a warm-up with a hot towel and kegels though. I’m going to enter it slowly. I admit I have lost all my sexual confidence, but until I had issues I had plenty. I think my issues caused the lack of confidence, not the other way around.

Kingpole- I think I am hypothyroid too. Even though my t4’s are in range…but towards the low end. I’ve heard at my age I should be near the top of the range (check my lab work post). Do you know if this is true? I have taken my body temp in the morning and its consistently below 97 – a dead giveaway. However, all my doctors have not taken this seriously. But, on the other hand I am almost never cold and I’m hungry 24/7. One thing I am worried about though is I am an exercise a-holic sp???, and I don’t think I have been giving my body enough time to rest. I think this has caused my cortisol to increase, with catabolic effects, blocking T- production.

John Dough- Thanks for all that research on the effects of my meds. I have been on Flonase for years and I am really worried about the catabolic effects. I’ll get off wellbutrin asap. Advair is a recent addition. Unfortunately this semester I have had to live in a carpeted apartment, and I have allergy induced asthma. So that advair will not last past December. I’ll try to drop the Flonase too.

Duo Trio- I definitely can’t get what I would consider a normal erection on my own, if I do its 80 percent or so and fades quickly without direct stimulation. Its better with porn, but I hope the porn has not f-ed with my mind, regardless, I’m done with that stuff for good. I like to talk with someone, but honestly it is just so hard and embarrassing. I can’t really afford professional help either.

Going441By7- I am def. taking your porn advice, and I am willing to quit masturbation as well. Do the beginner’s exercises suggested by others conflict with the no masturbation rule? Should I do them regardless in your opinion? Thanks on the writing complement, unfortunately my professors don’t agree! Haha

Avoidcaff 2nd post- Thanks for all the supplement advice, I have already implemented many of them and I hope to start the others soon especially tetres and Ginko. Would even of these supplements that are supposed to effect blood circulation be effected by my taking 5mg of Cialis daily? I am a bit afraid of med. Conflicts with all these supplements. Should I be worried? I absolutely agree with your depression-test relationship, that has been supported by many med. Studies.

But one more thing that is drving me nuts, why does my penis hurt! Is it worn out from overuse, to rough of masturbation or what! This has me a bit worried.
