Over the past 23 years I have seen two urologists who were both worse than useless. I kept paying them for what I am now convinced was pure guesswork, and I'd rather they'd just admitted they were clueless than continuing to waste my time and money.

I must have seen about a dozen doctors too during this period. The fact that I have received at least 6 vastly different diagnoses from them (including prostatitis/IBS/depression and the inevitable 'it's all in the mind') indicates to me that none of them actually know what the problem is.

The best doc I've seen so far was the most recent one, about 3 months ago, who said "ED is a poorly-understood condition. Once the obvious causes have been ruled out we're really groping in the dark, and with you there is nothing apparent". I admired his honesty and he offered me some Viagra, saying "it's a bit of a one-size-fits-all remedy, but about the best we have to offer right now".

I did like his approach - no BS; just an admission that medical science at this moment cannot solve certain ailments and, unfortunately, ED is amongst them. Sure, the doc can diagnose some things and rule out others so it's always worthwhile getting checked, but once they start going down the psychology route and dishing out the SSRI's you know they're beaten
Yep exactly, at least your urologist was honest and let you know how it is, he is obviously somone that cares and doesn't want to bullshit you. unfortunatley I never saw a good one that was actually honest with me about urology. I had to discover it by reading probaly close to 500 forum posts in the past 4 years with people that had been given the its in your head speech and actually getting no help from them. It took me 5 years to diagnose my own ed as hard flaccid, and I was so happy that's what it was as it is at least fixable, where as a veinious leak isn't. I've still not heard of a urologist solving somones ed, not even once, where as I have heard of a few dozen solving there ed from wise and experienced people on forums. Obviously if urologists and doctors were competent then why would anyone look at a forum it would be ridiculous but sad to say that's what has to be done.
