  • Anyone else just not get a morning wood?! Normal?

Title says it all. I never have morning woods... with the exception of when I need to pee bad. About once a week I wake up in the morning with a wood but only because I need to pee BAD.

I rarely dream if that means anything.
I never wake in the night to go pee, never have.
Dont think its low T... I think I have been like this for almost always. I get great erections for the woman and masterbate pretty regularly.

Anyone else? Just sucks cause I hear all about morning woods, thats when people take measurements, thats how people measure their EQ, etc. I dont get them so I cant use it to my benefit.

Are you getting enough sleep? Use drugs (prescrip or otherwise)? Smoke? All these affect the quality of your erections and PI's. Oh, and just because you don't remember doesn't mean you don't dream. Everyone dreams during REM, it's how the brain "detoxes" and relaxes your body for R&R. Muscle relaxers are famous for reducing erectile function though, so if you take those for a back problem they could be the culprit for no morning wood.

Zero drugs. Hate medications! I do occasionally remember my dreams but not usually. No smoking but recreationally drink on the weekends.

Yeah same. Although I find I do get them if I wake up at an unusual time. This is how I figure it: you get regular erections during sleep, I think it's about 3 times a night on average. It's part of the body's maintenance routine, just pumping everything up to keep things healthy. If your sleep schedule is a bit off then you wake up during a 'down' period, and so no morning wood. I think being well hydrated also helps.

Secondly regular sex and/or masturbation probably puts a dent in it too, as if you're getting your maintenance in during the day then obviously you're not going to have to do it when you're asleep.

Hope that helps. Stay hydrated, get plenty of sleep and maybe dial back the masturbation a bit. I bet you'll see them more regularly in no time.

That makes some sense. I will try to do that... however like I said, morning woods have never really been a normal thing for me.

          Thanks!

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I might and I don't even notice it, since by the time I wake up enough to be considered human it has already subsided.

Also, I think you only get nocturnal erections during certain stages of sleep...probably REM. If you wake up and are in a different part of your sleep cycle you might not have wood.

Morning and night wood also correlates with your QUALITY of sleep and is less common (although not unheard of) in 'light sleepers'. If you are situated in REMS (REM sleep) then it is usually on your second wave of it, which is around the 4th hour and Sixth hour - a time when your brain shouldn't be 'thinking' at all really any more...that's when wood shall occur.

Well the first thing I will say, is that you say you never have morning wood- then you say you get it once per week, when you have to pee. When I still got morning wood (going back half my life, I'm 31 now), I had it all of the time, couldn't get it down easy when I woke up and had to pee. Remember the challenge of lining it up to the toilet.

I've read morning wood or nocturnal penile erections are linked to testosterone, these occur according to professionals, 9 times per night. These erections are also linked to testosterone (though from my own experience, I speculate also stress and constant sex may also lower their frequency.)

I've read erections when you wake up are linked to dopamine levels in the brain. So you still get nocturnal erections, but don't have it when you wake up- dopamine, which can be linked to stress, anxiety, depression or even lack of exercise.

I don't think, from a non professional perspective, that you have much to worry about. You're getting them hard once per week, that proves in my opinion that you are OK.
Life struggle with extreme erectile dysfunction since I was 15. Diagnosed with venous leak. When I turned 30-years old, I found out I had hypogonadism (low testosterone) and sub-clinical hypothyroidism. TRT can be a cure for venous leak if you are hypogonadal.

                    I sometimes get them.

If you don't normally, but you can get and maintain an erection with decent EQ when you need to, I wouldn't worry.

those who know themselves have insight.
Those who master others have force,
those who master themselves have strength". - Lao Tzu

Whenever my eyes close I get wood. Lol. Even if I take a quick 10 minute nap at my job, I'll wake up with a hard on. I do supplement very heavily though. But I have noticed my actual morning wood suffer under these conditions:

                        -not hydrated
                        -forget to take suplements
                        -lack of exercise
-And my #1 influencer of poor quality morning wood is crappy food....ie: fast food.

                        Hope this helps.

I get none for 6 months when I was depressed about having one failure with a girl while trying myself because of I have low libido. I made a test for myself and couldn't erect in second ejaculate.

After 6 months, I started to get it while sleeping (not rock hard but makes me happy) Then, I got it for 1 months and I think it is because of a sleep problem or stress/anxiety/depression.

Because when you want to use it, it is working so there is no physical problem I think.

Some people just don't get them in the morning.

Also do you drink coffee/caffeine? This can affect your circadian rhythm.

Do you go to bed past 11 AM?

I hardly get them anymore either unfortunately but I'm pretty sure at least in my case it's due to doing PE incorrectly 10 years or so ago, almost every morning I would wake up rock hard not anymore though. Sometimes I notice an erection when I'm asleep on a rare occasion I wake up with an erection but it's weak not rock hard it should be. I don't think age has to do with it either as I'm 30, the lack of morning wood is down to a physical issue.

Anyway from what I've read on this lack of morning wood is often to due a physical problem or too much estrogen (low testosterone).
