Originally posted by schlittleI've read lots of bodybuilding magazines over the years and they always say the best way to lose bodyfat is too do your cardio (walking. exercise bike. aerobics or others) first thing in the morning on a empty stomach because if you eat food first and then do cardio the first thing which will be burned is the calories from the food. Where doing cardio first thing on a empty stomach will quickly use your fat reserves resulting in fat loss.
I have used hydroxycut before and basically it will give you extra energy for workouts and it will heat your body up so you burn a few more calories than you would if you didn't use it. The calories which you would burn though are minimal so you would still need to do lots of cardio and eat healthily. Xenadrine is a thermagenic the same has hydroxycut so they do the same thing.
Beware of certain fat loss tablets which block the fat you eat (not hydroxycut or xenadrine) because if you took these fat blocking tablets then ate a fatty meal the fat would basically drip from your arse. Which would be gross.
So they are pretty much useless then, thanks.Start : 5.5 BP/4.5 NBP x 5 MEG

I eat massive amounts of bread and potatoes and I've maintained a body fat percentage of 11; all the while I gained 10 pounds in about a month. My morning meals were 4 eggs, banana, 2 pieces of toast, and an apple with chunky peanut butter. I snacked on whole meals and rarely ate meat. If I did eat meat it was in a small portion and only once a day. Eggs are your best friend in this regard. If he's looking to efficiently lose fat then he should cut down on fatty meats like beef and pork and stick to turkey, chicken, and fish. At the most he should be eating his meat portions once a day. The rest should be grains, veggies, and fruit.Originally posted by Tylerdurden46 View PostI don't agree with the idea of cutting down on meat. If you eat a diet of mostly lean, unprocessed cuts of meat and fresh veg and fruit, but very few starchy carbs such as bread and potatoes, then you'll definitely get lean whilst never feeling hungry. Humans evolved over millions of years to thrive on that sort of food. It was only with the advent of farming approx 10,000 years ago that humans started to eat carbs in any quantity. That's why farming peoples are chubby and hunter-gatherers are ripped. And you don't see many fat tigers either!
While all of this isn't completely necessary, I do firmly believe that this diet will help him lose the fat quickly with out any harm to his body. I do agree with your paleo-diet. Anything he eats should be organic and unprocessed for maximum effect.

It all depends on your body make up. I really can't put on any fat so my fat percent is probably 4 - 8 which is low. When I used to work out, I could chug my whey supplements and burn it off like that only gaining muscle mass slowly but never any bulk. It would
kick me off to see others with bulk and me looking only cut. I could bench at that time 300 lbl but I only weighed 175, OMG. No bulk. There goes professional body building out the window for me right there.
As far as height and weight is concerned you have to take in consideration bone density and thickness. A good fat count is 10-15% body mass if you are doing some rigorous activity but not to low or else it can cause fatigue. Also, if you know the weight you should be at then you can calculate if you are overweight or obese. If you are over 20% of normal weight than you are obese else you are just overweight.Last edited by thenewdude; 01-13-2011, 04:56 PM.Begin 7/25/2011:

I wouldn't say completely cutting out beef would be the way to go. Leaner cuts of beef can actually have fewer overall calories and fewer fat calories than an equal portion (weight wise) than a chick breast when cooked the same way. Beef is still a very good source of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that can actually help with weight loss. Eating a big portion of fatty beef like Ribeye definitely wont help, but eating a moderate (1 serving size) size piece of say sirloin or tenderloin wont do you any harm.

If you're going to do cardio to try and burn extra calories to lose weight try doing H.I.I.T. training (high intensity interval training). You can find an endless amount of links if you just google "H.I.I.T."
Basically you pick intervals to go at a high intensity, like the name implies. I find it easiest on a bike at the gym... bike casually for your desired time and then go balls out for 30-45 seconds, then back to the desired time, repeat. It works best if your regular biking time is shorter, like 1 min regular biking, 35 seconds balls out, 1 min, 35 secs, 1 min, 35 secs.. etc. You can get a sick cardio workout in a short period of time doing this, and one of the benefits or "selling points" of H.I.I.T. is that is increases your heart rate for the majority of the day so you will burn more calories.Nothin2ItBut2DoIt's Progress Log

meat is not your enemy. empty carbs are your enemy. whole grains in moderation. no carbs when they are on their own (pasta, mashed potatoes, french fries). brown rice with veggies - great, real oatmeal - great, lentils are your best friend.
you dont need to do cardio, you just need to burn calories. adding muscle mass will burn more calories. working out right when you wake up (20 pushups and 30 situps) and eating breakfast every morning will get you burning calories earlier and longer through the day.
fat burners like xenedrine are ok for weightloss, but you don't feel really healthy when you do it that way. you can lose lots of weight doing crack or meth, but its not healthy.
weighted leg raises will build the muscle under the fat making it not feel soft. The force is strong with you young Skywalker. Obi Wan has trained you well.

Thanks. Yea, I am not having just carbs any more, at least as often as that is possible. Good point on the fat burners haha.Originally posted by RockstarParkingDude View Postmeat is not your enemy. empty carbs are your enemy. whole grains in moderation. no carbs when they are on their own (pasta, mashed potatoes, french fries). brown rice with veggies - great, real oatmeal - great, lentils are your best friend.

Run, run, run. And then run some more. Our bodies are designed to run for long periods of time. It is how we used to hunt for our food. The animals were faster then us, but we had something called Endurance Running, and we would just chase after them till they spent all their energy, then it was meal time. Building muscle is great, depending upon what kind of exercises you use. Body weight exercises are the best in my opinion, along with a really good cardio plan. I used to weigh 300 pounds, and now I am down to 190. If you want to lose fat, cardio, and body weight exercise, in my opinion, is the best combination there is.
You can throw in weight lifting as a good measure as well. I lift weights with some frequency, but I don't go to the gym and just work out the guns (curls for girls) I want some bang to that buck. I want my whole body to be strong to climb things, jump over things. Body weight is where its at, if that is your goal. Also the H.I.I.T. is very, very good. But you should work up to it, and get your standard cardio bulletproof.
I wish you luck. Its really cool when you start losing weight down there, makes the junk look huge!!!Slow and low, that's how it goes.
