  • Ripped Skin on Shaft And Circumcision Scar

I have attached pictures. Links at the bottom.

Hi guys. I was masturbating a while back and ripped some skin off near the middle of my shaft just under the circumcision scar. It hurt, and I instantly lost my erection. There was no bleeding. I also seem to have ripped the circumcision scar itself. It almost looks as if there is a hole or an open wound directly on the scar. And it stings. I have ripped my skin like this before, but never on the actual circumcision scar. It always healed up nicely within a week. I waited 3 days, and noticed no improvement. So I began putting 100% Aloe Vera Jelly on it along with Bacitracin Zinc. Since it ripped, i have had zero sexual contact. Not even masturbation. The Bacitracin and Aloe had little effect after about 11 days.

So I went to a dermatologist. He pretty much brushed me off and said that he had seen worse and it didnt look too bad. He gave me samples of Neosalus foam and Epiceram to apply 3-4 times a day. He told me I should be better in 2 weeks. Well it has been 1 week, and I have been applying the medicines, and still had no sexual contact. The rip on the shaft has shown some improvement, and doesnt hurt to touch anymore. However I am still I am still in pain. This is because the rip on the circumcision scar still looks like it did the first day I got injured. The medicines have had no effect on this part of the wound, and it still stings frequently. I am doubtful at this point that these medicines are the answer to my problem. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Has anyone ever had a similar experience? Could this be an early onset of Peyronies Disease? Thanks!

Mental Effect This Has Had on Me (Optional Read)
I cant stop thinking about this tear on my penis. It plagues my thoughts constantly throughout the day. Just last week I had a 10/10 babe trying to get with me, and I had to put her off because I know sex will hurt and I will probably lose my erection, and look like a chump. And I just sat there all week doing nothing when I could have been with this girl. Felt awful. The impact this has had on my self esteem has been significant. I am getting really depressed, and constantly find myself questioning whether or not this will ever heal, if I will ever be the stallion I used to be.

Medicines I Have Used Thus Far
    Bacitracin Zinc
Lily of the Desert 100% Aloe Vera Jelly (From Whole Foods for those wondering)
    Neosalus Foam
    Epiceram

    Update 1/13/12
I went to see the dermatologist again on the December 21st because I still was not noticing any improvement. He took a closer look at me this time. He told me that the skin discoloration would take months to heal. He gave me Atrapro and Kelocote for the wound on the circumcision scar to try for 8 weeks. I was still not sure at this point (on the 21st) how sex would be. So I had sex on the 24th to see if a month and a half of treatment and no masturbation/sex had done anything at all. Turns out sex was excruciatingly painful. I was able to keep my erection and climax, but the amount of pain was equal to if not greater than the amount of pleasure. I have been using Atrapro and Kelocote for about 3 weeks now and have seen little to no improvement.

Mental Effects Updated 1/13/12 (Optional Read)
This injury has completely consumed me. I can't find joy in the things I love anymore. I had the most depressing Christmas of my life. I can't even enjoy snowboarding (which I love). The pain and discomfort is always there, reminding me of my problems. I just finished finals in college, and the hardest part of studying for finals was not the studying itself, or the stress, or anything school/study related. It was sitting there and having to deal with this injury mentally. It was extremely difficult to focus and concentrate with the pain constantly pulling my strings. The thought of never being able to have healthy and pain free sex again is unbelievably daunting and scary for me. This injury has negatively effected many aspects of my life. I am in a very low place.

Just lay off the sex/masturbation and let it heal, it's skin.

Thanks. I appreciate your reply. I would be more inclined to just assume it will heal eventually if i leave it alone had it not already been 3 weeks with little improvement =/

I've had worse from my zipper! Dangers of free balling lol. Leave it alone, it will heal and you will be back in buisness.

I don't think that you should worry. It will most likely heal well. It is not always easy to predict how fast a wound will heal. My flesh/skin appears to heal three times faster than normal, yet I have had small wounds on the penis where one wound would heal very fast, whereas another would spend much longer time. In my eyes it seemed for no visibly apparent reason for the two different growth rates.

Your enclosed images makes it seem like the surface of the wound has healed, but your description of still feeling some discomfort there tells me that the deeper layers of the skin is still working on it. Then gradually the depression of the skin will be lesser and the skin area will be fit for fight again.

Sometimes skin can remain thinner after an open wound. It depends a lot on genetics (wound healing and the production of collagene.)

But if that is case, what will be the worst case scenario? A small surgery by cutting away the thin skin and sew together the open wound. This will prevent depression on the skin.

But I don't believe you need to worry about that though.

Thank you for the reply! So you guys all think it should heal up nicely? At what point should i be worried if I am still feeling discomfort?

Worry when the area around it gets a growing red area around it. But you look about half healed. Infection is your only worry and you kept that in check early.

Get some liquid bandaid to help seal it off from irritations, it also helps keep it from reopening from stretching. Super glue works in a pinch but burns like hell.

One can never be really sure. It is easy to just tell a person that 'it will be fine'.

But truly: I am 99,9 % sure that you will be fine!

There's always a slight chance in all kinds of safe situations that everything can go wrong. A person can suffocate while drinking a glass of water. But it's not very likely though.

ok, to your concrete question on how long you should wait before you worry: I had two seemingly different wounds on my penis after rough pressure from an extender. One of them were basically healed in two or three days (the surface at least; the healing process under surface goes a lot longer than we care to notice), whereas the other seemingly identical wound spent something like two weeks to show whitish fluid (serum and fibrinous slough for the creation of new skin), before starting to heal normal.

The two seemingly different wounds were of a total different character: The last described one was a lot deeper, even if by surface it didn't appear so.

The rift that you experienced can very well have gone deep. In fact, it is likely, and then it takes some longer time to heal than a more shallow wound. But it usually heals all fine like smaller wounds, with little or no scarring.

Remember that different people have different skin growth; time rate and the range of scarring from nothing to hypergranulation or keloid, so don't worry about time. As long as you don't see the wound get an infection but instead notice the surface gradually looking better, and the feeling gets better (the sensation under your skin), you should not worry.

                        So: Don't worry.

The wound looks fine. No red ring sorrounding the outside area of the wound.

Since I know this worries you a bit whatever anyone says to you, I suggest that you do something for the peace of your mind: Get yourself a mild antibiotic cream and put some on the wound two or three times a day, just so that you can feel even more safe. Mild antibiotic creams should be prescription free on pharmacies all over the world.
