  • "Tired" "slight sting" "Raw feeling"

    Hello,

A week ago I had a ligament pop during sex. I have since become panicked about it. I have been to the ER, a doctor for a physical and a specialist and all have said everything looks normal and fine. 4 days or so I began feeling a "tired" "raw" and "slight sting" on the underside of my shaft. It is not continual, pretty much only occurs when I am actively worried about it, and is not "uncomfortable" it just doesn't feel normal. I get it sometimes when I am having sex or getting a blowjob now. The urologist I went to said that, especially with people who experience panic attacks and high anxiety, they manifest these symptoms. He said he sees this all the time and it is "normal" for some people because their mind creates these physical symptoms. Especially since I was so scared about the ligament pop. He said since I can ejaculate, and get and maintain an erection, there is a huge chance this is just my mind manifesting the symptoms of my worry into the penis because I was so scared of the lig pop. Has anyone else experienced this? From panic or just from overuse? I have been having a lot of sex and just getting erect a lot because of my girlfriend. Can overuse create this? I would love to hear from anyone who has experienced this or knows a lot about this. Whether they can attest to the overuse or the panic aspect. Thank you in advance. PLease help me calm my mind!

Just be rational, Faygo. You've been to several docs, they've examined you, you're "functional" sexually, so it's ALL in your mind, dude! I've had lig pops, even a lig sprain from a bad penetration angle when my GF was riding me cowgirl. I was sore for a few weeks, but it was localized to my suspensary ligament (on top of the base of my penis) or in the groin area on one side. Your pain on the bottom of your shaft, is mental, not physical.

Your ligs are attached to the top & sides of your penis, so any pain you have beneath your shaft is NOT associated with your ligaments. Lig pops are quite common btw, so unless you suffer immediate intense pain when it occurs, or significant soreness later or when having sex next time, there's nothing to worry about.

Thank you for your comments sir. Panic and high anxiety is tricky and is said to cause "feelings" or sensations in ploaces, especially places you obsess over. I appreciate you sharing your story with me, that helps. Especially knowing that you said you were a bit "sore" for a few weeks. I have been feeling these sensations only a few days. Thank you again for your comments.

A while back I started freaking out and thought I injured my penis which later turned out to not be the case. Things that were always normal I suddenly imagined to be problems, for example I thought a small curve I always had was new. My constant anxiety even caused me to feel a mild pain in that area, but when I forgot about it I wouldn't feel any pain. Your mind can cause some crazy things and while I don't always agree with urologists I believe yours is correct in this case. Relax and be glad your penis is still fully functional and try to be more careful in the future. If you keep channeling stress into your penis for too long it can lead to real problems like manifesting itself as pelvic tension or turtling

Ligaments heal VERY SLOWLY and are therefore sore for many weeks when you suffer a sprain. Guys can get them easily when being ridden "cowgirl"; as she leans backward, if you have a high erection angle and 10/10 EQ. It's one of my favorite positions, but if she's a bit "tipsy" when you're having sex, I recommend firmly holding her waist as she rides you to prevent her from falling backwards & losing her "balance" especially when she orgasms....that's what happened to me. I've heard of a strange activity where some men voluntarily *pop* their penis by bending the head as if they were cracking a knuckle, yet their penises are still perfectly fine. This is dangerous and you should never do this, but my point is feeling a pop doesn't always mean you've injured your penis.
Thank you for your comments! In addition to the mild sensation I mentioned, I am now also thinking there is a small curve in my penis! This is very reassuring that it is mental. How did you get over your anxiety about it and move on? Thank you again for sharing your story!

Well back then I knew nothing about penile injuries so I misdiagnosed myself a lot. After researching the matter and sharing experiences on here for long enough I was able to rationalize that I didn't have most of the problems I thought I did. I also realized I felt normal whenever I stopped thinking about it, like if I went out to a party and distracted myself. Knowing that helped me calm my mind and then my problems began to disappear.

The truth is most of the supposed injuries on this forum stem from the mind or are curable things like pelvic tension (what I have), or just heal up in a few weeks. The amount of serious penis injuries are actually very few since the penis is a resilient organ as it should be. Remember that this is the penis we're talking about so it makes sense for a lot of men to overreact, even myself!
