Two guys the police wanted to talk to re their extreame idelology went the bring a knife to a gunfight route and are recovering in hospital from serious but not life threatening injuries .

A Afghan born guy was shot dead during a knife attack . It is unknown if it was a terror attack though he was on a watch list .
No fatalities umm other than the Afghan .

I am constantly surprised how less effective knives are in the Aussie context . Of course they are far less effective than firearms but also they seem less effective than they are overseas .

Isis inspired terrorist suspected of killing elderly couple with knife . He was prevented from going to Somila but was not jailed due to lack of evidence . Police were looking for him because he cut off his ankle monitor . Meanwhile back at the ranch police pull over to see if a young man wandering on the highway needs assistance . He Yells Allah Akbar and pulls a knife and is shot dead. So same guy so it seems .

A man who acted as a lookout in the shooting of Sydney police accountant Curtis Cheng has won an appeal against his conviction.
Mustafa Dirani was handed a 28-year jail term in 2019 after being found guilty of conspiring with others to commit acts in preparation of a terrorist attack.
Mr Cheng, 58, was shot dead outside NSW Police's Parramatta headquarters by 15-year-old schoolboy Farhad Mohammad in 2015.
The Court of Criminal Appeal today ordered Dirani's conviction be quashed and that he face a retrial.
The reason behind the decision has not yet been made public.
The court's judgment will not be published for seven days to allow lawyers to make submissions on possible suppressions.
Three others — Raban Alou, Milad Atai and Talal Alameddine — received jail terms for their various roles in the shooting.
Mr Cheng was shot at close range in the back of the head as he was leaving work on October 2, 2015.
Farhad Mohammad, the teenaged gunman, was killed when three special constables opened fire after the incident.
A handwritten note found on Farhad's body stated the act was intended to "… put terror in your hearts".
Mr Cheng was an assistant management accountant employed by the NSW Police Force as a civilian where he had worked for 18 years prior to his death.
The court heard he was "innocently going about his normal affairs, walking down the street when he was selected randomly as the target for a terrorist attack".
In a victim impact statement, his wife Selina Cheng said her husband was a harmless and gentle man.
