Yes, gun shops are essential to our survival during this plague. I have my shotgun cocked and ready--sitting on the front porch in case a varmint drives by.

I read that the CIA is investigating the exact numbers from China. I would imagine they are ten times or more higher.

      • What a great opportunity for our factories to turn to manufacturing our own medical supplies and all pharmaceuticals!!! Charity starts at home. I and my family are hunkered down, I in my 80's with diabetes, my daughter fighting brain c ancer. I doubt that neither of us would survive this aggressive, extremely contagious virus.

        • Since 80% of people only get it in a mild form you would likely be ok G4 . That said if you caught it your risk of death would be high and it really is best avoided .

The United States has angered Germany and France after allegedly seizing millions of masks set to be shipped to the European nations amid the coronavirus crisis.
On Friday, German officials hit out at America for 'intercepting' 200,000 masks they had ordered from a 3M factory in China.
As 3M is an American-owned company, the US was able to 'confiscate' the shipment of special FFP2 and FFP3 masks which were on their way to healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 outbreak in Berlin.
'We consider that an act of modern piracy,' Berlin's interior minister Andreas Geisel blasted.

'You don't treat your transatlantic partners like that,' he is further quoted as saying in The Financial Times.
Geisel called on Germany's government to 'press the US to stick to international rules', while Berlin's mayor accused President Trump of 'lacking solidarity' following the seizure of the shipment.
President Trump is desperately trying to secure masks and other personal protective equipment for Americans as the nation's emergency stockpile depletes.

              • And if he didn't and more Americans die who gets the blame? Maybe the European countries should have prepared better and maybe have their own companies that make what is essential? Oh and keep depending on the Chinese.

                • Or, if the US had been better prepared, it wouldn’t need to confiscate other nation’s orders.

All countries need to become independent. Not completely sure why they're not.

                      • According to The Administration, the states should have been stockpiling their own ventilators and not depending on the federal government to share its stockpile.

Aussie was prepared until a large amount of medical goods already in the country were sent overseas . The way this was done was not illegal but I would say was immoral US action was of dubious legality and morality .
So the US confiscated medical goods made in China but bound for europe and you don;t see a moral issue with this ?

Eliminate the crippling regulations and the monopoly that the FDA and CDC have built for themselves, for starters.

Well, you prepare for all of them. Having seen the impact of SARS, H1N1 and MERS, South Korea had a contingency plan in place.
From what they have done you can easily extrapolate:
First, establish nationalized health care for all so that people most at risk can get treatment instead of bankruptcy.
And second the US gov't could not have disbanded the National Security Council's pandemic unit in May 2018.

                                Then as the problem unfolded...
Not have the the federal agency responsible for public health create its own testing kit instead of using one recommended by the WHO
Not allow administration reps like Conway tell reporters the virus was "being contained."
Not tell the public that Democrats were creating "mass hysteria to encourage a market sell-off ... to demonize and destroy the President."
Not leave the major decisions to individual states.

And overall a controlled message by a responsible gov't would make a big difference. Right out of the gate in 2016 the administration should have worked to stem the trend of anti-vaccine sentiment, which coupled with rapidly spread false information of social media, lead to undermining of experts through misinformation spread by misguided provocateurs
