        • You got to love Cuomo and NY State. During the peak he begged for doctors and nurses from other states to come help here. Hundreds of them did. Now he wants to tax the income they made here afterall it's only fair.

              • I work on the TollRoad, I-80, eastbound and we had a group 12 paramedic units, 2 medics per vehicle stop at my Oasis. They were from a company serving OK, MO, IA and Nebraska heading to NYC and upper New Jersey. Hope all are well.

                • Hope I can find that old GI gas mask so I can freak out all the weenies.
The dorks call the cops if people come in a store without a mask - the cops show up without masks.
Top it off with my old kevlar helmet for extra safety.

                        • Just a point here it is being widely reported that South Korea did not have a lockdown. Now they might not have had a "hard" lockdown like China however they did have a "western style and very effective lockdown and started early with their measures .

We actually have a member resident in South Korea if anyone wants to argue the point.

                            There was never any lockdown.

The gov't mandated social distancing as a measure to fight infection spread. It was not a lockdown, it was simply a suggestion for public good. You know what happened? People did it.

The citizens took to it right away. From early February until May 5th people stayed home. Not 100%. Not enforced by law. Just common sense. All the kids stayed in, all the teachers stayed in, all the mothers stayed in, half the fathers stayed in. I stayed in. Normally we would go out to eat Friday to Sunday. We switched. Ate at home. Got delivery. Had groceries delivered.

They shut all schools before the school year even started (run on a different schedule here, school year starts March 1st).

Most restaurants and coffee shops went to take out only right away. All non-essential stuff, kids cafes, private academies, etc., shut their doors for the first few weeks.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, started wearing masks on Day 1. No runs on toilet paper, no one cared about disinfectant. But masks were like gold in the first few days. The the gov't stepped in and made a system that you could only buy the masks on specific days (depending on birth year, odd/even), only with gov't ID and only a limited amount. You know what happened? People lined up like good little civilized folks and bought masks when it was their turn.

I take a walk every evening. I go out and walk into the industrial section of town, down the street about 5 mins from our apartment. No one was out in Feb/March/April. Normally it's always like the concert just gave out. Even on a weeknight there are people out and about. But when COVID hit and the gov't said stay home, people did it. I go out now and run into 100s of people in the first 500 yards. Back then it was 20.

                            • It's called life getting back to normal as it should be. We scared the world with a bug that if you're under 65 and healthy the odds of you dying from it are the same as the good ole flu but hey it makes great headlines.
Here since the media doesn't want things open they can't wait to report crap. Georgia opened partially and 2 days later there was a rise in covid cases. See they should stay closed. Now the fact that once you have been exposed to enough of the virus to cause an illness it takes anywhere from 7-10 to come down with symptoms you may want to see a doc about and hence it gets reported. So the rise in cases 2 days after opening were from people who got exposed before anything was open but the media don't tell you that and people don't think.

                              • By the way sometime this week since I have had enough of this bullshit about covid I will write my own happy little thread on it. For the faint of heart or those that just want to listen to the media, any media, you may not want to read it. Don't say you haven't been warned.
