Bravo. Totally agree and very well put. Most people are defeating the point of wearing the masks by how they do it how they adjust them taking them off to speak and holding the mask with dirty hands then putting back on. Doing this over and over. Also moisture starts to bring down the effectiveness of surgical masks. You can't wear them forever without loss of effectiveness. I totally agree that there should have been messaging on how to use them. I spoke with my staff on how to use masks. I also demonstrated the proper way to wash hands and how to stay as safe as possible in public restrooms. But education in a broad sense was sorely lacking. High five on that post. If we were chatting at a coffee shop I would be being you a coffee for sure.

And should we still be pushing that messaging now that the studies have shown absolutely no correlation between mask compliance and case counts? When new information comes out, we should be ready and willing to change course, right?

Touché. I would say yes if I didn't think the jury is still out on that. My staff and I do know how to wear masks and the proper way to put on gloves and take them off. The proper way to wash hands. The message is not to my mind wrong just incomplete which impacts the affect. I will not disagree or disagree with you on this. I will wait for more data not stats data.

So you think a great society give it people the choice save the economy or save lives. Wow what a wtf idea. A great society doesn't even pose the question it is a no brainier (apparently not to all) Lives first so then the ecomony can be saved.

You informed your staff? You got hospitals filling up with sick people and about to be over run and you informed your staff? Your staff should have been instructed on proper sanitary conditions the minute they were hired covid or not. You have a public health budget not including fed help of a couple hundred million dollars and no one made a tv spot directing and educating people in all the right things to do? Please tell me I'm wrong and you have made may educational tv spots to PROTECT PEOPLES LIVES! And please don't tell me that you might be working right now while you're talking to me because if you are at your job now and talking to me here while a pandemic is going on I would be very disappointed. I know you wouldn't do that and you're off today right?

Hey my staff works in and office and yes I am responsible for them so I also got all of them approve to telewirk until it is safe to be together. We are all working towards helping the people if California. Thank you for acknowledging how dire the Covid threat is and that it is real. Great to hear you admit that. Oh and I taught my family and close friends the safe hygiene protocols. Hopefully you used your vast knowledge to help those close to you as well.

So, when the US Surgeon General and the Director of NIAID say something on tv, we are not supposed to believe what they have to say, but need to talk to someone we know that works for those agencies before we can believe it?

I also believe there is a big difference between 80k deaths from flu and 330k deaths from Covid. According to the CDC, deaths as a result of the flu in the 2019 - 2020 were actually 22k.

Sure there is. So perhaps I misunderstood - I thought the argument was about putting lives before business. It's about saving lives. I assumed the argument was in favor of all lives, not just those that aren't from the flu or that are in excess of a certain number. So it's about saving 250K lives, then? Not the other 80K? Is there a threshold when suddenly saving lives is more important than the economy and people's business and livelihood? I just assumed we were supposed to care about all the lives. What's the number then?

Wearing a mask would most likely prevent some of the deaths due to the flu, but there is significant opposition to wearing a mask when 330,000 (and growing) lives have been lost. Imagine the opposition when only 22,000 lives are impacted.

-the asshole governor of NYS
-3 times to the NYS Department of Public health
-twice to my counties board of health
-twice to the NYS DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
-Twice to the American Medical Association
-once to the Federal Dept of HHS
- Once to OSHA.
The only ones I haven't written to is the environmental lobby. Wanna get something done get the tree huggers on your side.

As for your work ethic that is great. You are in a much better position than me as far as getting people to listen so call your boss and light a fire under him. Just remember this is not Trumps fault despite his rhetoric. This is a failure of government;federal, state and local. The CDC, headed by Redfield and Fauci deserve most of the blame and should be fired. The CDC with it's 6 billion dollar budget failed to protect us. If you read their mission statement it boldly states their focus is to protect americans from disease,especially from forgein countries. How'd they do? Now before you tell me Trump hampered them did he hamper them so we really didn't have an H1N1 pandemic back in 2009-10 or the avian flu years earlier?

Just heard that the Florida Governor has decided seniors over 65 will have the same status as front line workers on a first come first serve basis as opposed to the CDC recommendation that only seniors over 75 be on the second priority list.

You are right that it us too easy to blame Trump for everything he is just accellerant on the fires if medical illiteracy consuming the country. I can't say enough about how much I admire Dr Fauci and his 40 years of experience trying to work with Trump baby balloon. I am an atheist but if I did believe in god I would thank him for Fauci dedication in the face of criticism and death threat. Who the frack threatens an epidemiologist try to help the country. The health secretary of California and the Governor address the state almost everyday with information about hygiene masks and the state of the state. I am sorry other state are not doing the same. California is in a bad way and for all the people who think masks are part of a dictatorship. The proof that we are free to do what we want is how many people in California used their freedom to do whatever and are now in the hospital. If this was a dictatorship everyone would be safe because they would know it was off to the camps if you broke protocol. Too many people listened to the idiots saying its fake or exaggerated. Well we will see what they think when they get off the ventilators.
