Mortality rate, as they report it, isn't giving an accurate picture of reality. It does feed the hype, though. If I'm reported as having C19 and subsequently die of heart failure, the cause of death will be attributed to the virus. Look to places around the globe where they actually report consistently and correctly for a better representation. Also look at historical rate of death for a population to determine excess deaths now. Why are other causes of death falling so dramatically while COVID deaths are rising? Just look at excess deaths compared historically to see what's really happening.

I'm not political about this (I assume you were addressing me with the comment about listening to a liar??) as many are. I support neither the red or the blue team. I'm looking at data and science.

I'm actually with you on not being politically aligned here, but I will push back against your assertion that dying of heart failure during treatment for Covid is somehow not attributable to Covid. That's like getting in a car accident and dying of bleeding out, or falling off a roof and dying of cerebral hemmorhage. We would all agree the car accident or the fall was the root cause, correct?

It's pretty widely known that Covid-19 can cause cardiomyopathy in certain cases, so saying Covid was the root cause doesn't seem dishonest on the face of it, though it's admittedly difficult to parse out. That said, if you think there's a grand conspiracy to keep us all locked in our homes and ultimately burn down the suburbs and turn America into some kind of post apocalyptic dystopia, then I guess the dishonesty is obvious.

If we feel the cause of death is not being recorded properly, we can eliminate this variable by looking at the excess mortality rate which compares the number of total actual deaths with the expected number of deaths based on projections of expected deaths, which over the years have been extremely consistent.

The latest excess mortality rate I could find was for the period between March and July, 2020 which showed an excess mortality rate increase of 20%.

My sister-in-law lives in a nursing home which had been housing 142 residents. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 27 of the residents have died from COVID-19. In previous years, fewer than 10 residents died per year. Accordingly, you could say there were at least 17 excess deaths as a result of Covid.

I assure you the above numbers are not fake.

I know, I am challenging what he is saying. There has to be a reason they want to show us we are controllable. They are trying to do something to us I believe.

They don't want to show us how controllable we are. Many people would reject that and would work against it. No it must be done without the population knowing in order to not risk the backlash that most normal people would give.
Purpose; if they had one purpose or intent then it may be easy to defeat such an idea. Their purpose changes depending on the day and what group you're talking to. Since they have a wide variety of purposes or intents I dismiss them because they really believe what they're doing is righteous. Their goal which sadly some of them don't even realize is what scares me.

This seems rational to me. Also consider what I said earlier about people not travelling as much. There are somewhere between 30k-40k deaths per year from car accidents. I would guess that number is down this year, though I don't have data to back that up. So increased mortality year over year with decreased traffic fatalities would be further evidence the numbers aren't fake. That said, I have no doubt suicide is up as a result of economic distress from shutdowns and a complete lack of the government's ability to properly compensate businesses and their workers to counteract said distress.

Still, a 20% rise in mortality (typically measured in deaths per 100,000 people) year over year is quite significant.

As for the mortality rate comparing the first 15 weeks of the year between 2019 and 2020 well they are basically the same according to the CDC.
Let me tell you facts that I know are true. My best friends brother died of lung cancer in late April. He was 86 lbs when he died.He spent his last 4 days of life in the hospital. Yes his cause of death was listed as covid. There are thousands more where covid was listed as the cause of death when it really wasn't. Oh they may have had tested positive for the bug but it was not the actual cause of death, only an ancillary one. Hospitals get paid much better for a covid death.

Basically I've been treating Covid no differently than I do cold and flu season. I've been encouraging my 94 year old father not to go out any more than he has to. Pre Covid he was literally in the grocery store every other day...! Now I've gotten him down to once a week. I do the vast majority of our grocery shopping now. We seldom go out to eat anymore, and when we do we go to this place called The Volcano where they're not mask crazy.

I haven't been sick since 2014.

You still haven't clarified what you think "their" goal actually is, even though "they" don't know it. Please excuse my ignorance, but I'd appreciate you elucidating that. Also, I'd like to know who "they" refers to. Additionally, most people I know on all sides of the political spectrum have multiple purposes in life and multiple goals, and their goals are dictated by their purposes.

As far as excess mortality goes, why would you compare the first 15 weeks of 2020 to the first 15 weeks of 2019? 15 weeks into 2020 was halfway through April. Excess mortality began to spike in late March, going into April. JAMA reports the 20% increase from March to August as Not2Big pointed out.

If so, we are in for quite a ride, because like I said earlier, my biggest concern is not COVID nor Trump nor Biden. My biggest concern is that people are increasingly demonizing those with whom they disagree politically and seeing them as existential threats. More and more it feels people live in alternate realities, with different definitions of terms and so on.

The right is always railing against snowflakes and cancel culture and postmodernism (all of which I have critiques of), but it seems more and more like the right is driving us into a postmodernism dystopia just as much as the people on the left they vilify.
