I don't agree with that. There are more safety standards but I don't see that as all good. Government getting more involved making profits on all the codes and inspections. The sue happy mentality has made standards for everything go overboard. I do not agree our products are better. Companies plan for some little small thing not worth fixing to go faulty and then you go out and buy another. We have cheap china quality items now. No quality.

Minorities still say we are all racist. The whole white man keeping him down. I agree back in the 50's if a black man looked at a white woman he could suffer for that. Now days, it is everyone being called racist...not then!!!!

You're right. They didn't have cheap Chinese toys back then. They had cheap Japanese toys.

If it weren't for the rules and regulations, most workers wouldn't be covered like they are now. Some companies give their workers health insurance. Not as many did back then.

Everybody is just as racist now as they were back then, its just that nobody wants to admit it.

There has been a few mentions of corporations getting richer on this thread. Isn't that what we want? Sure the bosses will take some of that new wealth for themselves but wouldn't they use the rest to make their comapanies bigger ( which gets them even richer) and therefore people will get jobs?

I agree and disagree with this comment.

I think that it is good for businesses to expand because it does require more hiring of employees.

However, if a company like wal-mart that gets too big that small business can't keep up then it is bad for this economy and this country.

Walmart employs lots of people and at the same time seems to make things more affordable for the less fortunate members of society. Now if I had the small mom and pop clothes store that was there and then Walmart can in then I would soon be out of buisness, me and the wife, 2 people unemployed. But Walmart hired 5 people in their clothes section so the net job figure is plus 3. Now, since no poorer people could afford the stuff in my store since I don't have the buying power of Walmart, now they can buy the same thing at 10 bucks that I was selling for 20 and they couldn't afford that. If I don't want to stay unemployed I could either relocate my buisness away from Walmart or get a job there.

I have been thinking about this. I was thinking of asking what you consider a credible source. Then I said to myself, well, you would dismiss anything on the internet because anyone can put up whatever they want. Cusp has a thread that goes along with that thinking. Then I thought that Fox is a national news station and they just can't say anything they want. I thought some more and realized no source would be good enough because you simply don't believe it. There would never be credible sources, you can say it is misinformation, disinformation, scare tactics so on and so on. I doubt if you went directly to the FBI they would admit it! So, you continue saying it isn't true.

Either corroboration or demonstrable reasoning. I tend to think when two or more sources, ostensibly from differing politicl standpoints report a story it's probably true. However, you will notice when this happens that both parties report it very differently. It's bias, and it's nigh-on impossible to completely avoid. The skill is in sorting facts from fiction, opinion and bias.

edit: For instance, when they toppled the statue of Saddam in wherever-it-was in Iraq, all the news media reported it, however every outlet reported a different number of cheering supporters... Wildly... Dependent on the story they want to tell. The London Evening Standard photoshopped hundreds more people into the pictures... badly, and put it on the front page. None of this sort of thing should be a revelation to any of you, it's how news media works. That's why I take it all with a pinch of salt.

When you raise taxes on buisness who do you think pays for it? If I ran a buisness and they raised my taxes do you think I'm going to take a hit in my wallet? Nope, I pass it along to the consumers as the cost of doing buisness. Therefore the average Joe takes it on the chin. If I had my taxes lowered, I might not pass the savings along to the consumer ( average Joe gets it again) but now that I have more money I might hire a few more guys to make my buisness bigger so that I as the owner can make more money. Get people to work!

Actually the sad thing is that the Vatican would be the ones saying it was a stunt! Beware the false prophets, or whatever. They who say to accept with blind faith that our savior will come again would demand proof themselves before accepting someone claiming to be the son of God. Sort of a catch-22.

here is a bit of a proof.Obama appointed John Holdren as his advisor for science and technology.Who is this guy?Another psychopat.The thing is that he pushes the agenda 21 also known as depopulation.What coincidence.
He keeps telling the reason for poverty is overpopulation.That's just no true.The reason for poverty is underproduction of all the main things, of all the main resources.

It says they're stupid. I am not a big Obama fan and many of his appointments are more than controversial. What it really shows is that the man never had the experience to be a president and kind of just picked people he knew regardless of what they actually believed in. That doesn't necesarily translate into them doing a bad job. Let me give you an example. I don't believe in abortion ( let's not make a thread about pro or con abortion) but the only job I could get to feed my family was as a director in the abortion clinic. Although against it I would make sure it was well run, clean, the people that came were treated with kindness and respect. No I'm still against it but my personal feelings would not get in the way of me doing my job.No it's not being hypocritical; I really could never kill anyone but if I'm in a war I'm shooting until I run out of bullets.
