  • How real are you?

    Hi Ya'll!

As most of you know, not only am I new to a forum but I'm also new to the internet.
So I was thinking last night that all we are on here is a bunch of avatars and anonymous fake names.
Which leads me to wonder how "real" any of our personalities are as compared to how we are off line in our real lives?
Do you act the same on line as you do off? If not, why not?

Well I think I have proven a very strong personality and character here on the forum. In real life however, I'm not that way. I am more of the silent type of guy who doesn't say that much at all. Also my social skills aren't that great. I usually say wise things in real life, compared to what I do here. Because you are anonymous here on the forum. You can say what you want "easier" than in real life.

What you read is what you get! Yup that's me live and in living color. Why did you want me to be something else? Most , if not all of us here, and the same here and in the real world. Why are you any different than what we see of you here?

I'm the same. It's too much work trying to be two different people.

Yep, I'm exactly the same in person. I may be able to edit my thoughts a little clearer on here (and mouth ), but other than that, I am who I am.

Well that's very admirable of you Mr.Cusp, but I think there are some who are not. For example, Thenewguy2 was very honest in his post when he said he is different.

So, most of you that have already posted, your spouses are aware that you are on this forum? Do you allow them to view your activity?

Nope thenewguy2 is the same here as he is in real life. Didn't he say he didn't have great social skills in real life? Well I have read many of his posts and guess what? He still needs a bit of polishing of his social skills. No I'm not picking on him; he's young a and most of them can use a bit of polishing here and there.

I am very real. I havent said a thing on here I havent said in person. All my friends know Im on here, my wife knows Im on here and even my mom knows Im on here! All of them know what brought me here as well. I like to talk and sometimes I may get a little embarassed after my mouth opens but I like getting things out get all the help I can when I have an issue. I am sure I am alot more fun in person though!

I do my best to be myself in real life, but its so hard and I don't think I'm accepted, but here I can be myself 100% and I don't think I'm not welcomed so I guess there's nothing wrong with me, its just the company that matters.

                      Great idea BTW

Dude! You are as real as it gets. Good for you. More fun in person, you say? Well now my life's mission is to hang-out with you. I cannot imagine you being more fun than you already are on this forum!

I am not trying to become someone else, it's just the fact that when you get less respect for people, you don't care as much, what people think and say about you doesn't matter that much. Also it's easier to type something or to "text something" than it is to say it in real life, unless you don't have feelings and worries. This is what changes me. I'm not changing myself, but if real life was like this forum, I would definitely be the same on here and in real life.

Don't take this negatively please. I am not trying to state that I don't have respect for you all, I really do. But the fact that we "hang around" this much on the forum, read what we all type, or if you take it into a daily situation, it would be like listening to what people had to say. I can tell you that I could have a 2min dicussion with a person I meet irl and I would respect him or her way more than reading a thousands threads of a guy here on the forum and discussing with him for countless of hours. (Of course, this would probably be different if you are new to the internet, but after being on the internet for 12 years, you get used to people being mean, and you don't take offense from it. You are used to people trolling you, and trolling back has become a habit, actually even a hobby. What I spend my time to, is studies, games, this forum and trolling / arguing with people. Before I came to this forum, I spent even more time trolling and arguing with people, because that was my hobby. I could spend 3 hours non-stop, not giving up in an argument, and still manage to win the argument even though I was taking the side that was wrong.
