You certainly have a knack for finding good ones. I didn't weep, but I hiccuped a little. Very nice.

The Tiger
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forest of the night
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
And What shoulder, and what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? and what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb, make thee?
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
William Blake
I've got a Tiger by the tail.

Empathy
It is real though I can't hold it in my hand.
Not like stone or grass, or grains of sand.
But though I can't reach out with my fingers and touch
I know I can feel it. Oh yes, very much.
And I can see it, as clear as daylight.
Sometimes, so much, it envelopes my sight.
Yet can't seem to find, the right words to say,
and describe it in a visual way.
There are things in my mind, I know to be true.
I have convinced it...and it has me too.
The mind, indeed, is a peculiar thing.
Making real, things, that we only think.
But how do we know, these tangible treasures,
are as real as they seem, without physical measures?
No weight on a scale, no corners, no wall
No way for us to tell, if they're indeed real at all
But...
These ethers of the body, that we've come to know
conscious, emotion, and the essence of soul
We all know are there, just embedded within.
Making us more than just bones wrapped in skin
Yet, we question so much, how others must feel
Knowing full well that our own thoughts are real.
No matter how irrational, or unfounded they seem
in that moment they feel as real as can be.
And what seems true yesterday, may not be the day after
But we feel it today, and that’s all that should matter
Those invisible ties, are truly something great,
making us humans, and they let us relate.
So, next time before we ask someone for proof,
On why they feel the way that they do.
Think back to a time, not so long ago,
When that feeling was real, as far as you know.
And remember what it was like, that you felt that day
Joy or sadness, anger or dismay
And think, this person, they are human too.
What are the chances that they feel like you?
Before you get set, in the actions you choose…
Try taking a walk…
In someone else’s shoes.Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before

I've got a friend of mine I'm helping to support with his music career. I only do covers but his stuff is all original. He's waitin until he's got enough money to get to the studio for the rest of his songs. He did a couple live takes on the acoustic about 3 or so years ago. Sounds better nowadays but these aren't exactly terrible I suppose. Can't wait til the full band ensamble is finished. Hope you like!

This is still so weird, seeing a thread Workin_4_it created being credited to BigO. Pity this can't be fixed.
Originally posted by BigO View PostHaven't seen one around, so I thought with all the talented writers here, we could start one up.
Original poetry, ones you like, inspirational, funny, serious...whatever. Anything poetry goes.
Keep in mind, original works take some guts to put out there, even on an anonymous forum. So kudos in advance to anyone who does.
Thanks for the title help Burty!
