So the Batman v. Superman trailer came out.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW9ZqFxRaQY

The first part of the trailer being the usual dick measuring contest with values and wondering if they both know each other, it kind of pissed me off a bit. I didn't quite think the actor playing Lex would use a higher voice like that, and honestly he seems a bit too up beat, but I don't know much about Lex Luthor to know if this is accurate or not, but he may bring something to the roll that past ones haven't even if it isn't accurate.

One very odd shot was about two minutes in and you see a bunch of flying creatures, which doesn't really get explained well until the end.

I'm not sure why Doomsday has to appear, they probably could have kept the story more about Batman and Superman, but I guess we have to throw in MORE conflict for what is essentially a movie filled with it anyways. I'm sure Doomsday is there as well because "setting up the DC Cinematic Universe".

I more or less thought Wonder Woman would have only had a cameo in this, or at least a few minutes of screen time, but it looks like she has quite the amount of time in the movie by the looks of it, which only shows how fast they want to get this cinematic universe in place to catch up to Marvel.

I think the thing that annoyed the piss out of me the most was Clark Kent asking "Who's that?" when talking about Bruce Wayne. Now I know you are an alien, but you've been on this planet about as long as Bruce and you are a reporter and you don't know who one of the richest, if not the richest, man on the planet is? You've never seen a picture of the man who practically owns an entire city, especially one that, usually, is the most crime ridden one on that seaboard. I mean god damn it, you can't write a line like that when the character saying it has like three separate reasons to know who he is, one because he has a working brain, two because of his job, and the third is him being Superman and knowing about that Batman could easily be dangerous. You can't write a line like that and get paid for it.

Finally saw the new Suicide Squad trailer and hearing Bohemian Rhapsody in the trailer is.....I don't wanna say dumb or annoying....perhaps moderately misplaced? Kind of like with a DMX song for Deadpool, or ACDC in just about any trailer/commercial, it didn't really match what it went along with. Still better than Pixels using We Will Rock You though, but that wasn't hard to surpass.

The trailer itself was alright, nothing all that spectacular. It is nice to see color in a DC film, which was fun and shows they are willing to put some sort of color in it. I feel like they wanted to do what Guardians of the Galaxy did, explain the characters and their powers (although this trailer missed like three of them, probably because those aren't played by famous people), give you a nostalgic song of some sort, and watch some crazy stuff happen with witty lines (or as best as they could get) and give you the gist.

Leto as the Joker still doesn't thrill me, but I guess I'll see when the movie comes out. No accent on Harley is a shame, but not all of them will be the same. All in all the trailer was okay-ish. If I wasn't a comic book person this probably wouldn't have drawn me in.

Saw the new Bourne film today...definitely watchable but the story line was certainly lacking in imagination and could have been so much better.

I've always liked the Bourne series of films for some of the great fight scenes, but the director Paul Greengrass seems to have a "thing" for jerky "real life" hand held camera shots and spliced together short snippets of the action from all directions that overly dominate the movie from start to finish. For me, this distracts from the viewers enjoyment because I found myself constantly trying to process what has actually happened in the action scenes and trying to make logical sense of them. This spoilt the big fight scene in this film that could have been so much better if the director allowed the scene to stand on it's own merit, rather than leaving the viewer trying to piece together the action from what was shown. I also defy anyone to make any sense of the chronological order of the big car chase in the movie. Definite overkill of the directors technique.

If you're happy to let your imagination run wild and forget about any logical continuity between this latest movie in the Bourne series and the early ones of the past that set a very high standard then you may well enjoy it, it's another fast paced action movie without much substance. If you're looking for an intelligently written captivating story about espionage and intrigue then you are going to be bitterly disappointed. I came away thinking it was a wasted opportunity to make the Bourne series memorable rather than just another remake of what has been seen many times before in other movies.

The best score I can give this movie is 5 out of 10 as it failed to bring the saga of Bourne's life forward and gave nothing to make me look forward to the next movie, apart from hoping it would be less of a disappointment than this one. It was a wasted opportunity to finally put the Bourne series in a higher league as those of the James Bond films that have stood the test of time (although the last Bond film was dire). Change film director, employ talented script writers and the Bourne series may well live on. Otherwise, this is just another one of those fast paced action movies that has no depth of character and will leave you mildly entertained for a couple of hours if nothing else.

Saw "Hell Or High Water" today. Well recommended, it's one of those movies that every scene is watchable. Jeff Bridges gives a believable, polished performance and Chris Pine has a screen presence that reminded me of Brad Pitt.

Definitely a movie that I could watch more than once.

            8 out of 10!

I loved "Come Hell or High Water."

Absolutely loved Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and Thor: Ragnarok. Justice League, despite the flaws with it, was surprisingly good, but then again, I suppose Joss Whedon was brought in to fix it, lol xD. Haven't seen Wonder Woman yet, unfortunately.

Hoo boy! Just watched one of the best movies I've seen in some time, called "Your Name" ("Kimi no na wa" in Japanese). It is about a teenage boy and girl that keep switching bodies, even though they've never met one another. Here's the subtitled trailer if you wish to get a glimpse into the film.

Now I know what you're thinking "But isn't this just a Freaky Friday ripoff?", and you'd be right in thinking so, but in no way is this Freaky Friday, mostly because it has far more quality in many aspects. This isn't one of those easy body switching everyone learns a lesson kinds of movies, it's more like a journey as we learn more about the characters and they learn about each other and their lives, learning to love one another even though they've never met. Because the film doesn't give you a moral or a lesson you are on the journey, wondering how it will it end. This is the most "will they, wont they?" I've seen in some time and because it isn't so cookie cutter you actually do root for them to get together, which does bring you to the edge of your seat wondering if they really will. It has a couple of twists that you definitely don't see coming and drastically changes how you thought things were going to go.

Now it is an anime movie, but the quality is superb. The animation is amazing with it flowing rather naturally and me wondering if they rotoscoped some pieces (rotoscoping is where they basically trace over a live action image like Disney used to back in the early days of it), the backgrounds are beautiful and I mean B.U.T.Full, the voice acting is spot on, especially when the characters are switched. Their personalities are spot on and the VAs (voice actors) pulled off when someone else is in the others body. (Note: I like watching films in their original language with subtitles as it's the best way to get the original emotion of the film, and you pick up a little language every so often.) The music is also superb, bouncy when it needs to be and emotional when it has to.

I'll say this that I didn't really know much about the movie, other than there was body switching, and I'm glad because this was a fantastic film. I rarely say this about a movie, but this film is an easy 10/10. I've only said that about Kung Fu Hustle and Mad Max: Fury Road. The entire movie I only looked away a few times, once to get a ginger ale and the others for a couple quick glances at the t.v. (as I watched on my computer). I barely looked at the pizza I was eating, I was grabbing slices like I was reading braille, reaching around with only my hand as I wanted to read every single word that was at the bottom of the screen and look at how fantastic the film is.

In the end this movie is FANTASTIC from start to finish. From the smooth animation, beautiful visuals, great soundtrack, and a story that keeps you invested in the character's stories and what will happen next. The twists keep you wondering and you truly do wonder if our two characters will get together, let alone get through the days where they are trapped in each others bodies.

This is definitely one to check out, even if you're not usually into anime. A 10/10 for sure.

Indeed. The movie is beautiful. The trailer isn't the best representation of the movie, leaning more to seem like a normal Freaky Friday scenario, but it's the best way to listen to the music and get a bit of what the movie is about. It's far more than just the trailer of course, sometimes a great movie has a standard trailer.
