I've noticed quite a few times that people reported little/no gains when extending at high tension (bigroc is a good example, he extended at 2800 grams for a long time with minimal results if I remember correctly). All studies I've seen recommend 600-900 grams as the sweet spot, and this definitely doesn't stretch your penis past BPEL. I personally extend around 800 grams or so and never have any soreness to speak of. I think you should lighten your tension, and drop the thought of having to be pulled past your BPEL. In fact, penimaster stated that their trials showed effective results at tensions as low as 200 grams for some people.

I'm with you in that I wouldn't extend while sleeping. While you would likely get away with it many times, it only takes once for things to turn into a life changing disaster!
I don't even think that 600g to 900g is that 'light' to be honest, I mean 900g is almost like hanging a 1kg weight off your dick and 1kg is quite heavy in your hand. Also, try holding the base of the extender in one hand, and then put the head piece onto the rods with the other hand.

Then push the hand holding the head piece into the hand holding the base until the springs just start to move at 600g. Then slowly push further until you get to the next markers on the springs. You will find that you have to push a fair bit of force to get the springs to move, certainly you have to push a lot harder than you would think when strapping your cock in to the extender and setting the tension 'low' and not feeling much of a pull; your cock is still having a solid force exerted on it in reality.

I consider it light to moderate in that most extenders max out in the 1200-1500 gram range, and many sell upgraded springs that go quite a bit higher. For most extenders this puts 600-900 grams somewhere about mid-travel on the spring balance. Also, I do agree that the higher end of 900 could very well be too much tension for some people. The only point being, is that I've seen many people think that the more tension the better, and this really doesn't seem to be the case. The bottom line is, ifsomeone can prove to their selves that they can gain in the 200-400 gram range, it wouldn't be very wise to use any more tension than that!

I've also seen some conflicting information on this, but I really do believe that there is a certain range that will coax the cells into dividing, and that if you exceed this range it elicits more of a "Defense mode" response where your body responds by strengthening things instead of dividing cells to relieve the tension. Of course, this is just my opinion, but it falls in line with what a lot of the studies say as well. Exactly where this magic window starts, and how much of a range this window covers may also vary from person to person, so it might be a bit hit and miss for finding an effective tension. It may also explain why some just never gain (I.e. they never find that sweet spot to get the right response from their body)
I agree with what you're saying, the 'defensive mode' thing makes sense with regards to too much tension not allowing the cells to stretch and split naturally at a gentler pace, but what about hangers, how much force do they typically use in grams? Don't they use way more than extender users, aren't they trying to go past the defensive phase, how come they can increase the length of their penis without damaging themselves?

It seems like a low amount of tension is good, and a very high amount of tension is good, but in the middle area, (e.g. high tension on extenders, low weights with hanging), that growth doesn't seem to happen due to the cells defensive capacities against moderate stress.

Hanging works on an entirely different principle actually

With hanging, there are 2 goals:
            1) Initially, most hangers start hitting low angles such as BTC. This transfers the weight from the tunica into the suspensory ligament, stretching the ligament and lowering the exit point of the penis - exposing more of the internal penis. Like most ligaments in the body, ligaments stretch fairly easily - so anyone starting hanging with a tight suspensory ligament is likely to see pretty fast gains initially.

            2) After the suspensory ligaments are maximized, hanging becomes effective for lengthening the tunica by causing micro-tears - the goal is to cause actual microscopic lacerations which continue to heal and slowly deform the tunica over time (. The reason that higher angles are preferred once the ligaments are maximized, is that tension can be applied to the entire length of the tunica (even where it goes into the inner penis unimpeded by the suspensory ligament - this gives an extra couple of inches of tunica that you can now put under tension). This combination of aggressive stretching that causes the trauma/healing cycle is normally referred to as "plastic deformation". This is where things get slow! The tunica is fibrous and very very tough, not to mention has a huge cross-section compared to a ligament. In fact, most "newbie gains" in general are a combination of better EQ, and length gained by stretching the suspensory ligament - anyone thinking that they actually gained newbie gains via actual plastic deformation deformation of the tunica is only fooling themselves.

Many people (myself included) feel that there is an advantage to extending for a while right after hanging. The belief is that by having the penis in an elongated state, the micro-tears will be held open while they begin to heal, making the process a little more efficient. I also believe that it may help in preventing thick scar tissue from forming.

how do you guys figure out the tension settings of your extender? i'm using the one's i got from ebay (leluv extenders), and i think i might be falling into the over extender categories

Has anyone else made zero gains doing using an extender for PE?

Im thinking this is a waste of time!
Adam, this isn't uncommon. I wasted 5 years using an extender until I heard about, researched and started hanging. Like others have previously stated, sometimes you just need more to induce gains. Who really knows if what others say about gains from extenders is true, not many before and after pictures posted. I think extenders are better for post exercise use to "extend" the session. I will never use on again, hanging/jelqing is where its at.

Wow, how many hours did you put in over that time, and did you gain anything at all?

I have been doing manual pe with extender and recently an addition of a bathmate for a month now and I have had gains (1cm bpel).
I would highly recommend manual pe if you don't already do it. There was a post on the forums which shows the statistics on what gets the most gains and stretching and jelqing were pretty high up.

Now that youve increased your bpsfl, you need to work on the smooth muscle to fill it back out. Try doing some girth based exercises and see if that helps. This seems to be a common dilemna and usually will work.

I'm confused because with those statistics you should have done over 2000 hours? But you said you have clocked 580.

What is your manual routine, and how do you jelq as I find that the base of my penis gets sore after only a few reps. :-(

Is jelqing effective even if the 'ok' grip with your hand is quite light? I've always been doing it by clamping down and trying to prevent blood from escaping.

I do approx 7-10min of stretching (all different directions )
                          300 jelqs
10min~ bathmate (Doing the bathmate stretches, 15 sec each directions x2)
                          (all done in the shower)

Then I wear the extender during my free time. I'v hear many times your should go for 8 hours BUT I don't always have the availability to do that much so basically .. as much as possible. Weather its 3 hours or 5 hours. I just do what I can.

How hard do you pull when you stretch, and how tight is your grip when you jelq?

                            Ta. :-)

How hard do you pull your stretches: Grab it and gently pull to your desired direction. When it doesn't move anymore but a little more force into that. It's hard to explain but I would say a decent force but never to a point where it hurts.

How tight is your grip when you jelq: Once again this is hard to explain but I would say its fairly tight, I don't let the blood come out. Once again tight but not to the point of hurting.

All this stuff you gotta just work out what feels right.
