I was investingating the death of an officer by a fellow soldier who had run him over with a tank. The tank had to be jacked up so it could be throughly inspected to rule out any mechanical failure. As I squatted down I placed my hand on the cement pad not realizing that I had it under the track, one of the jacks let go and the tank landed on my hand. There was no pain or I was in shock and did not feel anything, I was told I turned to this other guy and asked him to take the tank off my hand. When I finally saw my hand it looked like a cartoon hand; it was completely flat and twice a wide with the skin torn straight across and pull back all the way from my finger to my wrist I was extremely lucky when I was rushed to the hospital I had one of the greatest doctors who put my hand back together.
The funny part of this story, I was laying there all drugged up and think damn I am going to lose my hand. After awhile the doc came back in and said I have some bad news to tell you and of course my mind started running wide and thinking it is only a hand at least I am still alive. The doc says well you are going to have to learn to maturbate with you left hand for awhile. I think I laughed all the way through my first surgery. I actually have very good use of my hand; I have some limits to what I can do now that I am getting older.

Aw, yes. In Nam, we used to call it fragging. Didn't have enough tanks, but had a whole lot of officers that needed running over. (jP

                    • LOL how true. This guys was pissed because he got an art 15 for sleeping at his post, so he decided this would be good way of getting back. I MPI attached to CID I cannot believe some of the shit that goes on in the military.

                      • Never actually saw a fragging, just heard about it. But they may have not been true. Lots of rumors flying in the Nam.
Usually they involved some "Butter Bar" (Second Lieutenant) that was too stupid to lead and was getting his men KIA. (jP

I have heard stories of that too.
A few that didn't involve actually killing him, but demeaning him.

Heard a story about someone in Nam who pinned his CO against a tree for not giving them something they needed (I heard this a long time ago...) then went out on patrol. Got shot at from the tree line when they were out on the river. They laid down fire and called in air support. Took out an advacing squad of NVA without even knowing it. Guess who got the credit for it. Dipshit commanding officer who wasn't even out there.
