I don't understand why people are so eager to dismiss base girth. Most of us can insert our entire penis into a woman without hitting the cervix, unless we are in a particularly deep position, such as having her legs over our shoulders. In fact, based on what I've read and heard, for most women you would need an 8 inch+ bpel not to be able to get it all the way in, and as we have read time and time over again on this site, only about 1% of the population max is in this elite 8+ bpel group.

So given that the most sensitive part of a vagina is up front, and that almost all of us can insert our entire penises into a vagina, shouldn't we care MOST about base girth? I'm not just saying this out of statistical anxiety (I have a 5.75 beg but 5.25 meg), but also because it is consistent with my experiences -- women consistently have told me that what they like most about my penis is that it is thick at the base and thereby gives them a full feeling around the entry.

I'm 8.75" at my last measure, BPEL. so yea... I dismiss the Base girth. When i was with my current partner, She stopped me before i got it all the way in and said "not that far" I filled her up before i got halfway in, basically. That's with almost 9" BPEL mind you

In another encounter, when i was 7.25" BPEL the girl preferred that I use only the first half of my Peen. When I used more she would push my hips back to keep me from going too deep. i listened of course and changed positions to one that kept me from going all the way in.

In most cases, women never used all of my peen when they were in control, only the first half, and when I was in control I would use all of it only once or twice or for a very short burst (to get an A-Spot orgasm out of them) and then it would be back to the half usage. Honestly Base girth hasn't really done much for me.

If you're under 6.5" BPEL then yea, Base Girth will definitely help you. if you're over it, you should be more concerned with Mid shaft as that's what you're going to be using more of.

People are so quick to dismiss BEG because there's no standard to compare it to. Studies concerning average length and girth use MSEG, so BEG isn't really relevant there.

BEG is still useful, but not for claiming it is your actual girth size in relation to what average is.

Is that true? I don't have access to a computer right now but I thought that in the bju collection of penis size studies, about half used base circumference for girth, and even the famous lifestyles study is often described as being based on the average of various measurements along the shaft.

This isn't my experience. I'm 6.75 bpel and although some girls push back in certain positions to avoid a cervix collision, almost all can happily take the entire penis. And don't forget that about 60% of ken are 6.5 bpel or smaller so even if youre right, the base girth would be more relevant for most men.

Of the few studies done, the ones published and recognized as being factual by the scientific/medical community use MSEG. The LifeStyle's one used MSEG only.

They are video captures of "Castro" being measured.

You will see that the length measurement is 'more than' bone pressed, but the girth is a legitimate 6.5" midshaft.
That is a beyond worthless length measurement, you might as well start from the navel. Quite girthy, not that far from what I think is visually ideal though. Visually I think 6" MSEG is ideal for girth, though perhaps it's a bit questionable for actual use.

This post is so useful, shows girth is more important, don´t need over 16 or 17 cm.
                  "Girth over length :D "

Ok, I have access to a computer now! As I recalled, the BJU collection of studies found that 4 out of 5 reputable studies used max or base circumference as the girth, not the MSEG. See http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2007.06806.x/full.

And as for the Lifestyles study, according to Wikipedia that was an average of various measurements: "The Cancún LifeStyle study, in which the circumference of the shaft was measured at three points (base, mid-shaft, and just below the head) and then averaged, found an average of 12.63 cm (4.972 inches) with a standard deviation of 1.3 cm (0.5 in)." See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_penis_size#cite_ref-lifestyles_condoms_7-0. I don't know where Wikipedia gets that information, but that entry is otherwise very reliable and thorough, so I tend to believe it absent contrary evidence.

The sources are not reliable. Sorry.

The list of studies on the BJU collection vary so much from the demographic to how they measured, that there's no way to determine anything from it. A lot of them are self reported/self measured studies, with no medical personal there to assure that the measurements are being done correctly and are indeed the correct sizes. None of those are also of the studies that have been considered factual and used by the scientific and medical community.
The abstract also states that the article is about mostly Small Penis Syndrome and Dody Dysmorphic Disorder.

There's less than a handful of actual studies that have been done that are published and considered factual. The LifeStyle's one is just one of them, and they only use BPEL and MSEG.

From MrAverage.com, which has the LifeStyle's survey quoted in full there.
Measuring of girth was at mid-shaft around the circumference of the penis when the penis was erect.

Well, I stand corrected on the Lifestyle's study; it sounds like Wikipedia was wrong on that.

But I don't see how the BJU collection is unreliable. All of BJU"s studies seem to consist of mostly but not exclusively Caucasian subjects, which is the same case for the LIfestyle's study. Self-reporting is an issue, but this suggests primarily that the reported averages are really a bit lower, not that the information is totally wrong.

The point stands that much of the information out there about girth is based on max or base circumference. And this circumference is also quite relevant for the more important question of what is the most significant measurement for pleasing our partners.

Wikipedia usually is wrong. The studies on BJU don't give information about where sizes were measured, how they were measured, if people who could not get an erection were counted or not, and are basically just self reported studies for __ age group and __ race. Nothing about each study can determine what average is.

Without medical professionals measuring each participant the same way every time, accepting a wider range of ages, races, and nationalities, and booting out those who cannot get or maintain an erection for the measuring, there's no sure way to conclude that the measurements taken are indeed reliable, which is mostly why there are so few reliable studies out there. It's like the polls on this website. There's no way to determine that the stats are even 50% correct.

The point stands only if you're going off of studies that are not recognized by the medical and scientific community. If you are going by factual studies, average human penis size is determined by BPEL and MSEG, nothing else. NBPEL and BEG may be recorded in some, but not included in the determination of average size.

If I were to go by BEG, I'd be .5" over the highest side of average, despite MSEG being 1" below where my BEG is. I'd be lying to myself to consider my BEG my actual girth, even though it usable girth.

Excellent points. I trust your judgment. I, sadly, will now report at 5.25 instead of 5.5. : (

But we should all note that there is some diversity of opinion here. Base girth might matter more for vaginal intercourse with a penis less than 8bpel, and many comparisons (such as the visualizer) are based on base girth, either exclusively or as part of an average with mid-shaft girth.
