Anyone ever heard of someone doing this? Just pretty much deciding that they are going to abstain from sexual contact with the opposite sex.

I did for a while... I did it because sex became a chore for me. I would pass on opportunities and never looked for it. I think that mixed with being bored with women at the time caused me to get used to myself. being unable to ejaculate with the women then having myself to myself for however long i had me to myself. made me program myself to believe it was okay to be alone.
I'm reprogramming. It's good to have sex every now and then. You've had it so you're good. just get it when you can to keep your mind registered with reality.Comment

Voluntary celibacy makes perfect sense to me if you don't have someone in your life that you are sexually attracted to, and care about. It makes no sense to me if it means that you purposefully avoid ever finding the right mate.Comment

I am now celibate because my gf is a virgin and said she wanted to wait a while when we first got together... She changed her mind and wants it really bad so now celibacy is my choice, we do have oral sex but I'm waiting this out for now. I am crazy about this girl and we talk about wanting sex all the time. She is really scared of the pain to come, but all this talking about it and turning eachother on is really building up to it so I believe it will be great and we'll know when the time comes.

Now in all seriousness I dated a bunch of girls I thought I cared A LOT about, now looking back I had lots of fun, they were great to be with and it hurt like hell when what we had going went wrong, a few of them hurt me purposefully, others I drifted apart from but I still had lots of fun with them and it outwieghs the bad by A LOT.
