Overall I think it's good for a person to have a little mystery to them. A reason to want to learnt more about them.

But as others say, you still need to let the other person know you're interested.
Women were created from the rib of man to be beside him, not from his head to top him, nor from his feet to be trampled by him, but from under his arm to be protected by him, near to his heart to be loved by him.

Well I am outgoing and show interest in people generally. I would have to say I got friend zoned a lot as a young man . DATING IN MY 40'S HOWEVER THEY WERE ALL OVER ME . Same guy acting the same . Will say I was I suppose less confident as an older guy in the sense I just assumed women would not be interested in a middle aged single parent .On the other hand I was tired of games and just blew off game players and friend zoners as unworthy of my time.

You think being 'friend zone' is bad, imagine thinking you have a real friend in a guy, only to find out he sees you only as a set of holes to have sex with....

That your friendship meant nothing but a means to an end.

I think you should try just being yourself. If she likes you for you then your golden, if she doesn't then not a lot of time vested on your part and you can move on.

The only way this game (being aloof) works is if she is more desperate than you. That may boost your ego but in the long run, what type of girl are you ending up with. One that is desperate and clingy.

Be yourself (don't over think this) and hopefully she can be herself and see where it goes.

Thanks for all the insight everyone.

I tend to be introverted in person, especially around people I'm not familiar with. I'm really quiet at first but once I get more comfortable around people I open up more. Because of that I tend to appear aloof which in some instances causes people to be interested and in other cases people think I'm narcissistic.

Of course it's always best to be yourself, but it's also necessary to realize some things about us need to be modified, even if only slightly. I'm still trying to figure who the person I really want to be is.

                Just be you, slunk.

Don't let your head (the social insecurities that lead to us being introverted) get in the way of what your heart wants though. Don't let it make you miss out on possible connections with others.

I know that's easier said than done.
