Just a thought here the op discrimanates against Indian women he says for cultural reasons . Hmm are you sure you don't have cultural issues ? I know when I was young 2nd generation Greek and Itialy aussies had cultural issues to do with their falmily expectations and conditioning. In any case how are women supposed to know at a glance that you don't have cultural issues ? Remember Indians are not known for their enlightened treatment of women . You may have a western attitude to women but they don't know that.

So it's his fault how some Indian men treat their women.Originally posted by Pegasus View PostJust a thought here the op discrimanates against Indian women he says for cultural reasons . Your post just sounds arrogant, which is sad coming from an Admin. So your an Aussie living in Australia, of course you don't understand his plight. You would need to live in another culture where Caucasians are not the predominant ethnicity. And even then, it wouldn't be the same. It's just a reality that Caucasians are generally more culturally accepted among minorities.
Don't pay attention to the male answers, especially ^^^. The majority of them are hogwash, and from the looks of it written by white males that have never lived in a culture that has not been predominantly caucasian. I'm black and have experienced this at times... It can be a tough reality growing up, but you will adapt and become stronger through it.Last edited by MrPriapus; 03-13-2014, 02:14 AM.

Your posts here seem pretty narcissistic themselves. So you clearly were called out by the OP for misinterpreting his post and then you try to justify your reasoning by using a reverse psychology cop-out. Aren't we a little old for psychobabble?Originally posted by TheGreatDivider View PostDid I give you a clinical diagnosis, label you a racist, and conclude that you're a miserable person? Or did I get you to defend yourself and start thinking about the positive attributes you have and what makes you happy?
Don't fret man, I have to use a little reverse psychology with some people so they'll forget about beating themselves down and tell me what they do like about themselves. It's an ego thing... You can't hate yourself when you're ticked off at me and trying to prove me wrong.
But seriously, I think you focused entirely too much on how you're not a "narcissist" and ignored what I said about being a "nice guy". Did you play the youtube video I posted in at the bottom?

Here tthe op explains why he dicrimates against Indian Australian girls.

Another issue is that while Indian girls do find me attractive, but being raised here makes me incompatible. there's always an issue with communication if they don't speak English well, the expectation to get married ASAP, parents that don't approve, etc. I'm stuck in between two dating cultures, of which I belong in neither.

I don't discriminate based on ethnicity. There are a few other issues I consider which could be linked to it however. The first is facial structure: ever since finding boys attractive I've been drawn the most to a certain set of features. They're more predominant in Caucasian and Japanese men; however I've seen them in other ethnicities too. The second is religion. I wouldn't date a man who expected me to convert to his religion and set of values since I have my own. The third is how I'm treated. A lot of Indian men I've met have either tried to treat me like a princess on a pedestal or something to be looked at and nothing else. I know a selection of people is never the representative of a certain group as a whole, so if I met an Indian man with a certain facial structure, the same religion or willing to have differences in opinion, that treated me like a human being with flaws strengths logic and emotions, I would consider him equal to men from other ethnicities with the same traits.“Spirituality is not to be learned by flight from the world. We must learn an inner solitude wherever or with whomsoever we may be. We must learn to penetrate things and find God there.” - Eckhart

Hmmm Yeah I know this problem. Even on dating sites Indians tend to get the least returns along with asians.
Some people say it' because of the media depiction of Indians (Apu from simpsons and Raj from TBBT)
Also, could be because of a patriachal culture. And I've heard people say that the Indian parents did not allow their son (or daughter) to marry them because they were not Indian/virgin/etc. The accent also tends to be made fun of on TV.
Might also be because of the LARGE number of desperate indians on the internet. Have you seen how they talk to women? It's terrible and straight up sexual.
About direct physical attractiveness, I don't know. Every race has it's good and bad.Last edited by INS; 03-13-2014, 02:16 PM.

Generally I would say that there is a "social belief" that lighter skin is prettier. I am white, hispanic. i was born in the U.S., but my parents are Cuban with Spanish ancestry. There is no mixing in my blood line because by the time my ancestors arrived in Cuba there were no Indians and slavery was outlawed. Generally I am attracted to lighter skin women. I have friends of all colors and ethnicities, but when it comes to dating I like lighter skinned women. I would say that generally my lighter skinned friends are more confident than my darker skinned friends. I have friends from Nicaragua. In Nicaragua there are fair skinned people and also darker skinned people that are mixed with the native Indians. The lighter skinned guys are more confident and one of the insults among themselves is to call the other one Indian. A have an old friend that when her parents do or say anything dumb (they're Nicaraguan) she calls it "Indian logic."
There are many studies and articles you can find on these types of topics. Some people call it "white privilege." I've read some and even heard from black friends where a white woman is considered a trophy among black men.
Don't get too hung up over it. Dating can be frustrating but along the way you'll learn about yourself and what you real like, not just what you think you like. You'll learn as to what you can live without and what qualities are necessary in a woman.

There are many stereotypes with a lot of different ethnicities and yes, there is still a small minority of people (generally speaking) who think these. I don't even want to get started naming them because they're just absurd!
That being said, I believe that everyone is different and the color of your skin and your language shouldn't play a part in your dating life. For myself, I don't typically find some races of people "attractive" but yet, other guys that I know, would die to get with them.
I have an Italian friend who was raised by a strict Italian family and when he brought home a black girl, all hell broke loose and the rumours/back-stabbing started happening. I believe that a family/friends should support you, no matter what you do and this is what happened in this case. Even though his family would have preferred him to find an Italian girl, they still supported his decision because they want the best for him and that's the way it should be.
It's sad to say but there are still stereotypes that accompany certain races, be it the minority, but there are still some people who are close-minded and think that way.
All the best to you and kudos on building up your self-confidence man! I was in a similar situation with being overweight and a speech-impediment where I would cringe at the situation of asking a girl out. I eventually did (over the Internet) and got rejected twice in one week. I am now with my girlfriend for almost 3 years (our anniversary is in April) and I can see myself spending the rest of my life with this woman!

Thank you so much everyone for your responses, they really got me thinking.
Whatever the case is, I wont let it change my attitude/behaviour. All I can do is be the best I can be and hope someone right comes along. I'm just curious as to others' opinions.
To clarify, I don't think women don't like Indians because they're Indian, probably because of what comes with it:
-Certain facial structure (as someone mentioned earlier)
-Negative stereotype
-Religious/cultural differences
To reiterate, I was born and raised in Australia, so I don't have an accent and I am very Australian culturally.
I hope I can change people's minds about the creepy vibe that Indians have (which a lot do, because of the cultural differences) but often I don't even get the chance.

I don't discriminate actively, it's just that when I'm dating an Indian girl the disparity in expectations for the future is made evident very soon and it just doesn't work out.Originally posted by Pegasus View PostHere tthe op explains why he dicrimates against Indian Australian girls.
