I need a woman's perspective on this one. Why r men who masterbate viewed as dirty/perverted/sick/gross/loser/ n whatever else? would your view on a man's character change if u found out he masterbated? Would u see yourgent partner differently if u found out he masterbates?

Personally when I was in a relationship for 5yrs. I denied ever having masterbated before or during the relationship. Eventhough she wanted me to do it in front of her.

I just wanted to say that there is nothing wrong in masturbating. Guys do it women know we do it so why try and pretend we don't? Women do as well it's just it's not really talked about but there is a reason dildos sell so well. Apparently a lot of women get off on porn too not just guys. I think it's bullshit and an old stereotype that losers masturbate. The truth is pretty much everyone does it, those who say they don't probably still do even preists and nuns. I know I am a guy but I thought I would share my view on this subject.

I agree with magneto on this. Although UKguy has a point about how women view men that are losers that masturbate as perverted.

I have no idea why masturbation is ever thought of in a negative light. It is in no way dirty, sick, or perverted -- it is totally natural, something we are designed to do. How can there be anything wrong with something that feels so good and hurts nobody? I think everybody masturbates -- certainly all men, and probably most women. I do. My partner does. And we both enjoy talking about it, and doing it for each other (both remotely and in front of each other). I love the shared intimacy and I think there is nothing hotter than watching a guy stroke himself, or hearing about it from him after the fact. However, it is indeed a very intimate act. In my younger years I never admitted to anyone that I masturbated, and I never asked a man if he did. I think that is due to social conditioning plus the fact that it is a profoundly personal act. When you admit such very personal things to another person, you are inviting them inside you in a way that can make you feel vulnerable. That feels good with somebody you really trust, but maybe not so good if you are unsure of yourself.

Anyway -- I certainly did not feel badly when my man told me about his masturbation. He's a man -- I knew he did it. I was just glad he was willing to talk about it with me. However, I am a totally grown up woman and we were very close before we started talking about such things. My advice if you want to start talking to a girl about this is to go slowly. You should probably introduce the subject by asking her sometime if she's like to watch you stroke yourself (I think that is a secret fantasy for most women). Once you get past that and it is a regular part of your sex play, you can think about telling her what you do when you are alone. I suspect that most girls have no idea about the extent of the sex drive of most young males, and how often they need release. You can tell your girl, but go slowly and don't get outside the comfort zone for either of you.

I use to masturbate on a regular basis. In fact I would masturbate at night when I couldn't sleep. It worked better than a sleeping pill. However, over the past 15 years I have developed ED due to diabetes. As a result, my erections are becoming an endangered species. In this regard, I now save every erection for my wife's enjoyment, weather for intercourse or for her stroking me off, it doesn't matter. I think others have given you some very good insight. There is nothing wrong with a guy masturbating. However, if you are sexually active with a woman, I would make sure that you don't masturbate so much that you have a hard time getting it hard for her. Every guy is different and depending on his age, health, genes, etc. some guys can masturbate several times a day and still maintain a good erection, while others may experience difficulty in gaining erections if they do it too much.

Women know you guys think about sex all the time and we also know if you aren't having some type of sex with us then you are masturbating. It never bothered me if any guy masturbated just as long as it didn't effect his performance in bed with me. So, just be careful not to overdo it!!

Nikki makes a good point that I will take one step further -- masturbation is fine, but it should never substitute for sex (I mean the kind you have with another person). I think that in this age of online porn, it can be too tempting to just masturbate your sex drive away in the privacy of your room. Don't do that -- get out and find real, live partners to share sex with if you possibly can!

So if almost everyone does it, why do some people think masturbation is bad? I think it's because that's what they've been taught. Society, the church, parents, etc. often harp on keeping your hands off yourself without ever giving much justification as to why. With guys, the drive to do it is so overwhelming that by the middle teen years everyone is doing it anyway. And when they aren't struck by lightening or grow hair on their palms most realize that there is nothing particularly bad about masturbation. With girls, it may be different. I suspect that some girls never figure out how much fun it is and how good it feels. But I bet that most do eventually, even if it is only after they become sexually active.

I don't know about age 5 but I for one started around 12-13 yrs old. Been doing it ever since. I personally enjoy it as much as I do regular sex.
