  • I think way too many people subscribe to an all-or-nothing type of mentality.

Alcohol is bad. Does that mean you should never ever ever under any circumstance drink it? Hey, maybe the damage to your system will improve your immune strength and response in the future. Maybe the liver gets some benefit from it. That is, in small portions drawn on over long periods of time. But nope, people are either drinking to massive excess, or they abstain from it altogether.

Milk might be bad, but it has *some* benefits. Maybe instead of black and white thinking (such as, I'm going to drink 3 litres of it every day for the rest of my life and fuck the consequences vs complete and total avoidance) we can think of alternatives. Hey, we're smart enough to understand *why* something is suboptimal for us. So that gives us the advantage to correct it.
Maybe we can moderate our pasteurized milk intake, increase our raw milk intake, alternate between types of milk and even, *god forbid,* cycle through the use and disuse of it.

Many studies have shown that there are many negative effects of consistent, long-term overuse of milk (and of any one thing, really). Why cling so fiercely to your #1 favourite thing? Variety is good for you, you know. Find a second favourite thing you can enjoy.

I see your point. Too much of anything is bad. However, if you drink too much water you will get bloated and uncomfortable because your stomach is too full. But drowning is when the lungs fill with water, and has nothing to do with drinking water. Two entirely different situations.

        • Oh my friend you can internally drown by consuming too much water. It is rare and consumption must be excessive but it can be done. If you're going to try use beer!

          • If you drink too much water you get hyponatremia and die from electrolytes imbalance.

It actually is a difference.. Water is dangerous stuff man, a guy in England drank 4 liters of water a day (a little more than a gallon) and he died by water intoxication.

I actually read about this guy in the news who drank 7-9 liters of milk a day.. Everything was fine with him, all was normal, only difference was that he had a huge debt cause of his high consumption of milk. He had been doing this for several years and his debt was on more than $20k

I don't think draggin was defending water, but rather clarifying the term "drowning", too much water causes (hyponatremia) disturbance in the electrolytes balance and thus death, which is the case you referred to above, something milk doesn't do, besides we're not talking about instant death but long term side effects that may be just as lethal (or much worse in my book).

Yeah I agree. I like TNG2, but he is hilarious with comments like that. First off, by definition the proper amount of water to drink in ounces is your body wieght divided by 2. So for a 250lb man that would mean 125 ouces of water, which by the way, is a gallon.

So drinking a gallon of water a day is actually very healthy, depending on your build - by definition.

Also, going into debt $20,000 from drinking too much milk. That is just the funniest thing I have every heard!!

                            TNG2 you crack me up!
