Thanks. Yea I think the point was a bit elusive to some. You obviously got it.

I confess that I have not taken the time to read this entire thread, but I am willing to put in my 2 cents anyway.
There could not have been Obama without Bush and there could not have been Trump without Obama.
Trump's election was very much a rebellion against our self appointed political class of both major parties.
Trump is more New York liberal than mainstream conservative and so his policies, such as they are, are really all over the map, ideologically.
I was happy to see "flyover states" exert themselves politically and shake up the entrenched bureaucracy in Washington D.C..
I am a Libertarian and think that government should be as small as possible and that, if government needs to be involved, it should be involved at the local level first and the national (or international) level only as a very last resort.
I like it that neither party gets along with Trump. I want legislation to be hard to pass and new rules slow in coming.
I prefer incremental change to sweeping change.
Personally, the roll back of the state and local tax deductions and the limitations on mortgage interest deductions is going to hurt like hell but, I believe, that both of those deductions, and almost all the others as well, need to go away. I do not think that the tax code should be used for social engineering. The more rules there are, the more opportunity to game the system.
Some times I want to scream at every politician "This is a game to you people, but it is real life to the rest of us. Stop playing with our lives!"
I had health insurance that worked for me and my family. Then some bureaucrats, who had never met me nor asked my opinion nor actually knew anything about me, decided that my policy was "substandard" and decided to make it illegal. The President of the United States said "If you like your policy, you can keep your policy, period." But that was not true and I had to find a new policy only this time, the market was in chaos. And then again a couple of years later. Less relevant coverage, higher deductible, higher premiums.
I do not care about the costs so much, but Washington D.C.'s idea of fixing my health care continues to be very disruptive to my life and my family.
Whatever pain Trump causes Washington D.C., is okay with me.

I had a couple of great aunts who fought all the time. It made family gatherings very uncomfortable.

I did not. But either way, the point was made. Appreciate the input...

A politic is like a banana that you can never peel. Try as you may, you'll never get to the point. The entire effort is futile.

I personally like some of the things Trump has done. I'm not aware of everything, but the tax reduction is a start, as is the defunding of the UN. I think if he managed to trim the fat out of the government and cut out all the useless leaches that are only there to suck the lifeblood out of the nation and add more rules and regulations it would be another great step in the right direction.

I don't particularly like that government involves itself in trade deals, where it should be up to businesses to deal directly with its customers. However you could do worse than Trump doing the dealing I suppose.

If anyone is interested, I came across this guy on youtube who makes the best case for capitalism I have ever come across and if after watching you are still a devout socialist then I'm very sorry, there is no hope for you.

Two farmers and their wives live next to each other. They both have the same amount of land and they can only grow enough to feed themselves. 5 years later one of the farmers wives becomes pregnant. As her pregnancy advances the farmer must stay in his field longer and longer hours. He now has to feed himself and wife but now a child as well.

The farmer who's wife is not pregnant calls him a fool for getting his wife pregnant. His sits on his porch and has a drink or two while he watches the soon to be father toil long into the night to try and grow enough food for his family.

The child is born and as he grows he helps his father out in the field. The wife and mother work less. Two strong guys can grow enough to feed all three of them and have a bit left over.

The childless farmer and his wife continue to work their farm but they grow older. Their farm produces less and less as they get older while the father and son still produces enough even as the father grows older.

Soon the childless farmer comes to the father and son and asks for food. The father remembers the man sitting on his porch and calling him a fool as he worked well into the night to feed his family. Why should the dad/farmer give his neighbor the fruits of his hard work?

He shouldn't, unless he is feeling particularly forgiving, generous and if he has enough to give away after his wife and son are looked after.

Also I think he should have sown a few more seeds in the sack if you know what I mean.

In America it would be the farmer who had no children through his own wife that impregnated the other wife. Secretly skimming 50 percent of the food from the ignorant hard working farmer and his biological son. Then when he is older he wants 50 percent more of the left overs. We would then idolize the farmer that scammed the first farmer. Because everyone knows if you are that stupid you deserve it and if you are that cunning you deserve it also.

Because he had compassion for a fellow human being who also worked hard all his life but encountered hardship because he made a mistake many years ago.

If by anY chance something happened to the son, the father and his wife would have to provide for three with only two working to feed three. Life is not always fair; however, humans need to help their fellow humans in need if they want to be considered human and not animals

I wouldn't idolize the scammer farmer. I would hope the decent farmer would have found out and shot both the wife and crook farmer and used their leftovers as fertilizer. Can't blame the kid though, he is an innocent party. Maybe the farmer could then shack up with the widow next door?

I think its fair and decent to help out your fellow man, but I don't think it should be expected or enforced or that he owes the other guy anything. Charity is only good when it is given voluntarily of your own free will.
