Toilet paper shortage explained.

Empty TP shelves are not primarily a result of hoarding. Instead, it is a result of Covid-19 restrictions. In particular, the shelter at home request is the major cause of the shortage.

When everyone was going out and about to work, school, shopping, and public buildings, they were crapping 40% of the time in these public places and using “commercial grade” TP which for the most part is single ply recycled paper. Under shelter at home guidelines, these people are now crapping at home and using “residential grade” TP, which is softer and often quilted for additional comfort.

The manufacturers and supply chain of these two grades of TP are not interchangeable which results in an increase in demand for residential TP and reduced demand for commercial TP resulting in a shortage of residential TP and over supply of commercial TP. Unfortunately, it is not financially practical to switch manufacturing from commercial Grade to residential grade and then switch back again six months down the road.

Stay healthy and wipe on.

Just wanted to ask a question and I hope this does not come off as insensitive or taken the wrong way. I have had conversations with friends and other people I know about the current situation and I have gotten the same response from everyone. No one I know or anyone I've spoken to knows anyone who has gotten COVID-19 or knows someone who has died from it.

I'm not saying that this isn't real or that it's a conspiracy or anything like that. I'm just wondering how much truth is being told about it. There are reports of hospitals full and so many deaths they don't have places to keep the bodies. And then I see things online where people are filming empty hospitals and talking to emergency responders who haven't seen the extent of what is being reported.

I've seen a random person on social media talking about a spouse or someone that had it and recovered but when any little thing happens anywhere the internet and social media is flooded with things about it. I haven't seen that with the current situation besides people talking about how bored they are sitting home everyday.

I have a lot of things like this to discuss but don't want to make this too long. Just wanted to put this out there because it's something I've been thinking about. This forum has always been a great place for discussions and help with everything, not just PE and it reaches so many people in different parts of the world. I am doing my part and staying home and following all the rules to get us past this. I just wanted to ask since this reaches so many people in different places.

Do you know anyone that has gotten COVID-19? Do you believe the situation is what it is being made out to be?

I am in the United States and would love to hear from people in other countries, as well as in the US. It's one thing to hear a bunch of stuff on the internet from sources you don't know if you can trust, so it would be nice to get some insight from you guys on this forum.

I personally know two people who have had it. One is recovered and no longer quarantined. The other is still recovering, but appears to be coming out the other side. Someone from my mother-in-law's church recently died from it (much older than the other two). Otherwise, I would just say that conditions vary widely throughout the states, probably even within states. For every completely tragic situation you see reported on, there are bound to be many others that are completely calm. Don't take either depiction as THE TRUTH, but understand that the thing is serious, and does kill people. We are all better off "flattening the curve" sooner than later, but that looks different in different parts of the country.

The Center for Systems Science at Johns Hopkins University is the official entity for collecting and reporting statistics on the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Johns Hopkins has a fairly good reputation in the Health field. Accordingly, I see no reason to doubt the accuracy of their daily reports.

@ Party - Walmart is open and offers a 4 oz container of personal lube under the Equate label for about $3.
