Re rest of your post 4more, my previous post (no28) adresses this.
Your body will bring it back even if you don't have fat gain. This is indicated in the nice papers you sign in order to have the lipo done. I live where the beautiful people are and I worked with a few Plastic surgeons providing the finance services and got to know their business well for 15 years. Most males get lean enough to lose the fatpad at 10% but don't forget genetics plays a role on your overall body shape. When I was a size 5, I still had a big booty thanks to my genes on my mother's side. I am on the tall side and very lean then but it didn't matter.

Lots of possinilities are mentioned in surgury papers are you saying this is typical?
Ok so we are back to the question of what the tiping point is and you suggest circa 10% is typical.
So mine went from circa 1.2" at say 17% to 1" at 12%. Only way to know I suppose is to test it.
Big O is also looking at fat loss relative to pad loss

Yes, it is typical for the fat to come back after lipo if the person does not change their life style from what got the body fat there to begin with or is genetics take a part in it. Is all on the release form. Been there done that. The only way to tested is to do it. You are pretty lean for you height but let me show you how genetics play the part. MrLooking4more is 6'2" his weight is 196 and his body fat is 19% his Fatpad is .5 he has been about this size the whole 24 years I have known him (lowest 185 at 10%). He is built just like his grandfather. I know is not fair, I look at food and gain weight, he has always been lean and eats like a horse.

I am 6ft2 201lbs and probably around 25% body fat, I have at last measurement slightly less than a 1" fat pad, I consider myself over weight.

Are you sure you are 12% bodyfat ? (not trying to upset you)

          Cheers Lee.

That (12%) is what a recent test said. Of course all bf% tests are subject to inaccuracy. However this corelates to various other bf tests I have had done and how I look. Basically I am carrying more muscle than the average guy.
It seems my pad is bigger than average for my bf%, I am sure there are guys worse off though.

Ok cool, bodybuilding dot com has pictures of bodyfat percentages, usually at about 15% you start to see abs and at 12% they should be clearly be visible (Popping out).

I understand that there are fairly easy gains to be had from reducing your fat pad surgically, but I also feel this would grow back. Its then the matter of whether its worth the money to keep repeating the procedure ?

              Cheers Lee.

Just on a side note, it is not necessary to be 5% bodyfat to lose the fat pad. I am 6', 195lbs and stay usually around 7-9% bodyfat. I have no fat pad at all. Just veins and abdominal muscles. The little amount of fat I carry, stays on top of the lower-mid abs. It's all about a healthy lifestyle, and knowledge about nutrition and exercise. However for an adult who has had a lifetime of bad nutritional habits and sedentary life, the chances to accomplish a total body transformation without enhancing the hormonal system are low.

                  @Jackxxx

Great info could you explain your diet, do you count calories and use a system like 'if it fits your macros'

                  Do you miss any foods.

                  Cheers Lee.

Well that is the question I have Jackxxx, would a couple of % make a big difference.
So say I was 95kg (210lb) at say 8%would that get my pad under .5"
I have abs that are visible now (intercostals too) not sure how motivated I am to go lower. The health advantage is probably marginal.

I would not be interested in the plethora of drugs you use Jackxxx. I certainly do not regard your lifestyle as healthy.
What surprises me is that you carry less muscle than I do despite the drugs. Perhaps you can get some workout and lifestyle tips from Big O.

I weighed in today at 218.4 and I am starting a cardio routine as soon as this hanger comes off. I am much more fit at 200 to to 205 but I may see if 195 is possible. Yep, I am a tad bit out of shape but I always am in the winter. My work keeps me lighter once roofing season is in full swing. I will be doing an experimet with fat reduction and fat pad measuring. fat pad is about 1 inch so i will get better measurements today.
Going an inch and 1/2 deeper than before

At your height 195lb is still thickly muscled O. It should be a great experiment from both the fatpad and overall look.

Of course I miss foods lol. I crave sugar all the time. And I do eat everything, just not as a routine. Once you reach your goal, you can perfectly eat whatever you want once in a while.

As far as calories I don't count them anymore. I've been in this lifestyle for years so after a while you get used to it. Is just how life is. I always look at the nutritional information of every box, bag, jar, but is just an habit to have an idea of the fuel mix I'm putting in my carbon unit.

My diet is basic and simple. It is composed of raw eggs, oatmeal, whole milk and fruits in the mornings, chicken breasts, tilapia, pork, rice, mashed potatoes the rest of the day. Basically eat every 3-4 hours a small nutritional portion. Around 6 ounces of meat (chicken, pork, fish, steak) with a cup of rice or mashed potatoes.

At a low bodyfat, yes that 2% will make a huge difference. Is like age. If you put an 13 years old kid next to a 11 year old kid you will see a lot of difference in growth and development. But if you put a 34 year old next to a 32 year old man, you can barely tell the difference. Same with fat. At 18-20% you can differentiate between that 2% But between 6 and 8% there's a huge difference. At 8% you should have the fatpad down to 0.5 inch. Right now I might be like 9% bodyfat, which I consider fat for my lifestyle, and still have no fatpad. Standing up, I can touch just pubic bone above my phallus.

How tall are you? Muscle Weight does not necessarily compares body composition between two individuals. It depends on height, bone density. I am an ectomorph. Very skinny thin body frame. I was 140 pounds when I started lifting weights at 20 years old. Chicken legs, thin wrists. I took me sweating blood to put this much muscle on for 15 years.

I was a 6ft 1" ecto when I started and I weighed less than you did.

I am sure you look great . I am also sure it is achievable drug free.

I had low bf through my 20's I am aware what it looks like.
I have allways ttrained more for function and am not really convinced there is any functional advantage (including health) to going to a lower bf . Though to be fair my partner does prefer me under 100 kg (220lb) and what fat I have does tend to collect in the ab area . I suppose for me at least some health benifits are possible.
What info I have suggests pad will come down noticibly over the next few %. Of course most guys seem to have little pad at my current bf%. It will be interesting to see Big O's experience.

My early weight training was dogged by poor advice given to me by guys on drugs . The weight training methodology used successfully by guys on drugs, is counterproductive when training drug free.
Thus when I decided to forget anything any bodybuilder had ever told me, things improved.

                                Thanks Jack,

I would like to get down to 15% body fat over the next say 6 months, I think you have a great mindset and I guess once anybody reaches a desired weight its staying there which is the greatest achievement.

Pegasus your fat pad sounds like it is the last area on your body that fat comes off, perhaps an experiment in the short term to see at what % of bodyfat it starts coming off would be a good.

I am gonna start eating around 2600 calories, making sure protein is above 220g and fat above 79 grams, and go from there adjusting as needed. (These are the figures for my body.)

Thanks Pegasus for starting this thread, it has got me motivated to start losing weight and reducing my fat pad, losing 1/2 inch off my fat pad and with a bit of effort I could be 7 inches nbp in under 6 months.

Wishing you all much success Lee.
