To further complicate things, some guys don't believe PE is real until they have already gained a large amount (so they don't bother with photos). Also, some guys keep PE a secret from the whole world, including their own wives or significant others. Finally, even when we do take photos--we are not professional photographers, so people have their doubts.
Extender Trials
Anyway, there are plenty of clinical trials these days proving things like extenders work--since they have a profit motive, they have gathered the resources & created successful extender trials demonstrating 100 guys can average something like 1/2" of growth in 6 months. Ironically, from my own PE studies, I don't think extenders are by any means the best way to gain length; they might actually be inferior to hanging & manual means. However, this is where the money is, so these companies promote their own devices & they have the revenue to support it.
Phalloplasty Surgeons Already Know About Hanging
It's also well known among phalloplasty surgeons that hanging weight post op gives many guys 3/4" or so of gains also. By the way, I've read some reports & most doctors use hanging techniques we actually discourage (their poor patients are hanging up to 10lbs in weight with latex from the coronal ridge of their penis---on these forums you'll see guys get chastised for trying to hang anywhere closer than 1.25" behind the coronal ridge of the glans--we know the hanging from the glans is dangerous & unnecessary).
I do realize that some doctors use extenders post-op as well. Of course, the operation (cutting the suspensory ligaments) is not required at all to make gains... I know some doctors realize that, because that is how I found out about penis weight hanging in the first place. In fact, from what I understand, cutting the suspensory ligaments only gives flaccid hang gains; not erect length gains. Those only come from the post op hanging or extender use.
Manual Exercise (Jelq & Stretch) Clinical Trial
Manual means of increasing size are just as effective, & there are actually a few studies on this as well (I believe Remek either created a trial, or at least mentions a clinical trial in his book, "exercising the penis"). I forgot the exact numbers on this. I know a lot of guys gained around 1" in the clinical trial, but I can't recall the length of time that passed (how many months the trial lasted).
