  • 10 hours. In the beginning there was absolutely no air inside the bell. After several hours some air has leaked, and a small blister has popped up where the the air inside of the bell meets the skin of the head, and the skin is a bit red in this area. So it is quite obvious for me that the reason I get blisters is not the vacuum itself, but when air is trapped inside the bell, and the head dont touch the inside of the bell all the way.

    • 8 hours in a row, did no checking/switching or pausing because all felt ok. Probably a bad idea..didnt feel anything wrong, but when I took it off there was a giant blister on the same side as usual. Seems like air has leaked again. F.U.C.K!

I might have to try the cotton pad in front of the protector cap keeping the silicone from blocking the air valve inlets, and sucking out all of the air properly.

Could it be the vacuum pump that needs to be replaced?

      • Yikes! Maybe the cotton was a bad idea all together and it's creating air pockets or maybe it would help if used with the protector cap. I've experimented using a pulled-apart cotton ball to take up some of the extra volume inside the DIY XL bell I made and saw no ill effects, but I was using it with the protector cap. An old phallosan design actually had padding inside the bell around the valve inlet so you'd think it wouldn't cause problems (then again maybe that's why they changed the design).

I think there might be a video somewhere on the phallosan support thread that shows how to check that your pump is functioning properly. Has Julian given you any recommendations?

        • Another thought: make sure that the inside of your bell is clean. A layer of sloughed epithelial cells or some kind of gunk tends to accumulate and coat the inside of the bell over time. It seems to me like this could prevent the glans or protector cap from creating a good friction seal with the inside plastic of the bell allowing for some slipping and introducing the kind of shearing forces that tend to create blisters. Also try to avoid edema (https://www.pegym.com/forums/penis-d...tml#post934482). The excess fluid can break down adhesion and accumulate between your epidermis and dermis.

          • Blisters a problem for me too. Having a day off today. Sucks. No sex either. I use the medium bell with a small sleeve. I leave my head naked and use cut off protector caps as a way to seal the vacuum. Works about 50% of the time. Good luck
A prayer, is kinda the same as a "Like". If there are enough likes, God will take notice. So "Like" away please. My daughter needs your prayers. Thank You.

            • I've been reading with interest the posts about blistering and it's causes. I've been affected by my first blister several weeks ago...it was about 1cm in diameter and filled with a slightly bloody fluid. I popped the blister with a sterile needle and treated with antiseptic cream. I stopped using the PF for about a week until I felt it had healed enough to continue using the PF. During the healing process I did shed the epidermal layer of skin where the blister had been and did notice that it seemed to take forever for a new top layer of skin to form...I have always considered myself to be a fast healer...and I have been left with a "patch" where the blister has healed. I resumed using the PF and within days now have recurring blisters on and around where the original blister formed and have had to stop using the PF once again. Real pain in the arse having to take another break just when I felt I was making progress!

These blisters are always on the right side of my glans sort of midway between the meatus and corona where most other people seem to be having the same problem. I've tried with and without the protector cap but this doesn't seem to make any difference and I completely agree with the conclusion that the shape of the bell not following the contours of the shape of the glans and the air pockets inside the bell must be the cause. I do often find myself loosing a bit of vacuum when wearing the PF for extended periods thus causing the air pockets inside the bell which I never thought was a serious problem until now. Something else I have noticed is that on close inspection my glans aren't totally symmetrical in that the left side is slightly more pronounced than the right side...hence why I believe I always get the blisters on the right side and never the left.

Assuming that the valve doesn't leak when in the "lock" position the only way air can enter is via the condom end which has always seemed to be the "Achilles heal" of the PF. Personally, I think both the bell and the condom need to be re-designed...the shape of the bell needs to be changed to more represent the shape of the glans and the condom needs something to make it consistently more air-tight...possibly ribbed on the inside to prevent air leakage down the length of the condom. In the meantime, I have thought about packing the bell out by wearing the protector cap folded up in half along it's length thus doubling it's thickness around the sides of the glans where my blisters are occurring, but I'll have to wait until I heal to try this out.

P.S. Nice thread by the way.

              • Ok. Blisters have healed, trying again. This time with the protector cap, and cotton pad in front of the valve inlet holes. One thing I noticed about the cap is that i forms a little circular air pocket in the tip. This seems to happen everytime I put the cap on, even when I became aware of it and trying to push the air out. So I took off the cap and stretched it in this area which seems to even things out a bit. I have completely pulled the PF apart, inspecting and washing everything. I took apart the vacuum pump and pulled out the valve inside. Everything seems okay.

                Thanks for your inputs

I get the blisters on the right side as ta53ora also describes it. I am sure this is caused by the air pocket inside the bell and/or the cap. The cotton pad in front of the valve inlet holes seemes to work, getting al the air out of the bell, but I will try with the cap on now. The funny thing is, why does this happen now? I mean I have been using it for almost 1000 hours with almost no trouble before, but suddenly this gets a huge repeating problem

It seems to me that we are in exactly the same boat! Like you, I have been using the PF since 24th June of this year almost every day for between 10 and 12 hours a day without any problems and my blisters only started to appear about a month or so ago. After the first one appeared it then became a recurring problem on or around where the original one was. I'm now only using the PF sporadically, partly through being disenchanted and partly to give myself plenty of time to heal. As I am uncut, now when I use the PF I insert my foreskin into the bell rather than just my glans to give my glans some kind of protection. This is working for me in that it's preventing any further blisters and I'm sure it's not ideal but my thoughts are that this is better than nothing until such time as I am convinced that I am totally healed and can go back to the normal routine. Once the blistering has occurred it seems to me that the healing process may take a lot longer than one may think.

Maybe the bell should be made of silicon (the thickness of the top of the condom) rather than plastic so as the bell gives way to the vacuum rather than the tissue of the glans?

Yeah, I guess the recurrence makes some sense to me, but why it initially happens out of the blue without any previous problems is something of a mystery. The other big question is how long we have to wait before returning to the vacuum to allow for complete resolution to avoid the immediate reappearance of the blister. It's been about 5 days since my blister turned up. I can still see the spot where it was. I guess my plan is to wait until it looks completely normal and then maybe wait for a couple more days just to be safe.

                      Congratulations on passing 1000 hours!

Ok, guys, I could not resist and just had to measure my BPFSL and it seems like it has increased about 1cm, maybe a little more or a little less. Its difficult to measure it, because I feel if I stretch even harder it will measure longer, but then the grip slips.

I will wait untill at least 1200 hours before measuring the BPEL just to be sure..

                        • Started again this week after several months off the PF because of blisters. Everything seemed to have healed.

Have started slowly and been doing 1-2-2 hours for three days, and after the third day a blister popped out on the exact same spot as before

I DONT UNDERSTAND IT! Have done everything by the book, used the protector cap, pushed the head as far as possible inside the bell, replaced the pump, pumped out all the air, pulled foreskin back, checked everything, tension low green..but no, small air pockets appear inside the bell and blisters popping out nonetheless

It looks as if I have got a permanent spot where a blister appears whenever I use the Phallosan, no matter what I do to avoid it.

                          • Trying again, new approach. Took the cap and used a needle to make several small holes in the tip, to avoid air pockets getting trapped inside the cap. Put it on, and pumped only 1-2 times, just enough to keep it in place inside the bell.

                              • 3 hours. Still no blisters. Hopefully this will work.

After all the sudden trouble with the recurring blisters I came to think of what could possibly have changed, and I think I know the reason.

When I started out with PF I didnt think much of the protector cap. In the beginning I used the PF without the cap, but afterwards I started using it on and off. Sometimes when the head felt sore I would use it, and then sometimes not.

After a while I read here somewhere that it could be smart to put a few small holes on the tip of the cap to help air get out, which I did, but didnt notice much difference.

So I kept using this punctured caps until they started to wear out. I then ordered 3 new caps and continued using them, but it didnt cross my mind that I maybe should have done the same with the new ones. So from here the problems with the blisters started to appear and I couldnt figure out why.

i now have been using the PF for three hours in a row without any signs of blisters, just the regular puffiness on the tip of the head. Hopefully this will keep the blisters away
